JD 2320 trans problem

the output shaft to the front wheels just snaped off the transmission on my 2320. Anyone have this happen and have any repair info?

This being the front driveshaft (not the engine to transmission driveshaft) the first question would be whether it's a U-joint failure or a driveshaft failure. Actually either the U-Joint or driveshaft shouldn't be too hard to replace. If it's the transmission output shaft, that would be big trouble. More detail?

I don't recall anyone else breaking the transmission shaft and I watch these posts pretty carefully for 2320 problems. I'm pretty sure the transmission will have to be pulled. I would suggest you call the dealer and get some info on what it involves. My guess is you would need a pretty well equipped shop to take this one on.

I had a similar thing happen to my 4010 (think it's one of these same build of tractors). The driveshaft between the engine and the HST came apart. It came apart in front of the U joint. Can get to that U joint to grease it.

I just traded it in on the lemony 1025R at that time (nearly 3 years ago). Now have a 2025R, which is apparently like the 2320 and 4010.

We have a 2008 2320 and we are experiencing the same thing, almost exactly 2 years after replacing the drive shaft for the obviously more common u-joint failure.
What was the remedy for your output shaft? A former JD mechanic has also warned it will likely need to go to the shop to tear apart the transmission.
