JD 4105 third function loader not working-

Hi all, I have just re attached my loader after some months and for some reason the 3rd function is not opening the bucket- is there a fuse for this function or is is it purely a hydraulics problem maybe?
I must admit the tractor doesn't get allot of attention these days but it would be good to find out if this is a straight forward problem.

Check for voltage at the solenoid first while activating the button. But ,I suspect the spool in the valve body is stuck from lack of use, not an uncommon problem. Post some pics of it and we can try to help.

I've had a similar (or, perhaps, the same problem) with my 4105's FEL 3rd function.

If your 4105 is from "Midland Tractors", the 3rd function is an 'in house' addition. My neighbour was able to hunt down the fault and it turned out to be the valve in the block not seating.

My 3rd function fault has since returned. I, like you, am in no hurry to have it corrected as I rarely use my 4in1 bucket.

Sorry about delay, and thanks for the feedback @kennyd I’ll take a few shots of the loader and get a few more details, still managing at this point with out it. Would like to resolve it at some point ..

Hey Wagtail yes it is from Midland, I purchased second hand from a dude in Launceston, all working as it should for a few years then after a long period without use it stopped working - I think I know what you mean I’ll look into it- cheers @Wagtail

That's what happened with mine. When it stopped working, you could still 'hear' a slight 'click' when you engaged/pressed the 3rd function button on the joystick, but no longer was there a solid 'thunk'... all from the 3rd function block mounted on the right hand FEL arm.
