Hi All,
First of all, what a great site. I have been browsing for a couple of months. It has definitely helped in making my decision a more informed one.
I am purchasing a new tractor and I have narrowed it down to a the JD4110 w/60"mmm,fm blower,FEL.
I have been wavering back and forth between JD4010,4110, and Kubota BX22 and 2200. I think I have a pretty good grasp of all the pros and cons of th 4 CUT's. In making my final dedcision a couple of things came into play that don't have much to do with performance.
1. My neighbors son is a shop manager at the local JD dealer (5 minutes away) versus Kubota 45 mins away.
2. Right now JD has better financing up here (canada).
After spending many, many hours reading the posts on this site I had pretty much determined that the BX2200 was perfect for me. I don't need a backhoe (neighbour has one and works for cheap). My property is 10 acres, hilly and I cut about 4 acres.
After weighing in the above mentioned JD points I am leaning toward the Deere.
Here are my concers/questions that I would appreciate any thoughts on:
1. Is the 4110 too big/heavy to be used to cut the grass( will it leave indents? Our soil is sandy (very good drainage) and we don't have many low swampy spots.
2.Should I get both turf and industrial tires? I will be doing a moderate amount of loader work as well as blowing snow in the winter ( we get a lot). The driveway is about 500 feet long, level grade but can get drifts up to 36" very often.
3. Here is my biggest concern with the deere...and the reason I was leaning toward the Kubota. We have a lot of hills that I will be cutting and the kubota seems to have a much lower centre of gravity. I am not so concerned with the up and down of the hills it is more the cutting accross the face of the hill. The hills are very irregular in shape. We have several areas where the property resembles a bowl.
My John deere guy (neighbor's son) says it won't be a problem but I am just wondering if anybody out there has any thoughts. I would hate to find out that after spending this type of $ that I can't cut many areas of the property.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
