Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

A view of the north side. I had a time reducing this picture because when I resized it made the lines on the roof curve and look really really bad.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

This is a shot looking up from the inside to the ridge vents. If you look close you can see the fiber that should keep the water from blowing into the vents. Next step is to start putting the headers up for the garage doors. Will probably do that the first weekend in June as this weekend I'm supposed to work on Mom & Dad's house.

Nice to see things moving along for you. I'm planning on putting something up this summer for my goats.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

I never envisioned it would take me this long. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I was hoping to have had the roof done by the time snow flew - last year. Wife always says that I'm slowing to doing everything - well almost everything. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Looks like it's gettin there Jim, looks good. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Puts a hurtin on your ham strings putting a roof on doesn't it? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Last time I roofed something was 3 years ago and that was Dad's house. Man I woke up in the middle of the night screaming with knot burning cramps in my ham strings from that job.

What was funny is dad had them too. He called me yelling that night asking me to come over and help him get up off the floor or help him stretch the Charley Horse's out. Ran over to the house and he was laying in the floor stuck with his legs straight out. Every time he'd try and get up they'd send'em back to the floor. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Mom settin on the couch laughing her head off /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif dad yellin at her and it was all I could do to keep myself breathin right. Funny stuff!!! Dad being a fairly decent size man, 6'4" 295lbs. layin there stuck yelling for help. Cracked me up. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Thanks for the memory reminder Jim.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Not much has been happening on the garage. I've had a couple of other projects to do. Some work for the parents, the car needed some TLC, and of course this is #1 priority but yet wifey and her Pond/Water Garden Project has been taking a lot of priority as well. Reminds me of work where everything is priority 1. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Anyway, I have managed to get one of the garage doors framed up.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Jim, great job on the pics and documentation of the project. My hat is off to you. My shop just got started. 30 x 40 with a 10' overhang on the 40' side. I let our builder do this as there was no way I had time to do this plus get the land ready for starting our log home. Hopefully they will be digging the basement by 2nd week in July. I plan on posting pics of the pole barn as soon as I get a change. My joists were just set today. I took an hour from work to run out and watch them set them.

Good Luck...

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Woohoo, Woohoo, I finally feel like I made some progress this weekend. Here is the front of the garage. I've got both of the front doors framed in.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Here is the south side. I was able to get the man door framed in and installed as well as 7 pieces of OSB. I still need to frame in the "tractor door," but as of now I need to decide what height. 7', 7'6", or 8'. The fronts are 7'6". /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
