Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Here is the Northeast corner. It is the back and the north side. I need to call someone to come out and put some spouting up to keep my dirt from washing away before the grass gets established.

Here is the south side including the tractor door. While I was finishing up, Monica spent a lot of time straightening our sheds up so that we could get some of the stuff out of the garage that had already managed to accumulate there inluding my Troy-Bilt tiller and an old push mower that I use along the ditch.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Here you can see the water line coming and going. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif The one on the right is the line coming in. The first valve will cut the water to everything. The top valve on the right is off. This will eventually be the supply for the garage. The horizontal line with the valve feeds the water line we just installed going to my wife's flower garden. I did not bury this below frost level. You can see the fourth valve on the left. This is currently off. I've got the little brass connector there with a garden hose thread. I'll screw in a little adapter for blowing out the water lines on an RV, turn the valve on (and the supply off), turn the outlets on, and blow the line out with compressed air. I also believe I'll run the outside connection for the garage off this line as well so that I don't have to worry about it freezing either.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

There was a little bit of problem on the assembly of my "experiment." At first I had a little leak on the main line coming in. I disassembled so that I could fix that. On the reassembly I snapped one of the threaded PVC connections - back to Lowes /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif. I get everything put back together and turn the water back on. Wife started screaming. I must not have held the PVC together quite long enough before I turned the water back on. It popped the line off the main valve. Must of run for about 5 minutes or so. Put a lot of water in the hole. Here is the remains of that. The water has all since soaked away, but it is still muddy. I'm waiting for it to dry to make sure the initial leak is fixed before I wrap pipe insulation around the lines and fill with sand.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Here you can get a perspective of how far we ran the water line on Monday. If you look real close you can see the hose on its holder between the 2 sheds. BTW, the reason I went left of the sheds instead of between is the electric for the shed on the left comes from the one on the right and I didn't want to have to worry about crossing it.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Here you can see the rest of the "trench" where the water line went it. Didn't quite go as low as I wanted, the sub-soiler had a hard time sinking the 4" conduit elbow to feed the line through. It is probably only 4" or so below the surface, but that should be fine. If it turns out to be a problem I can always go deeper, but don't see it being a problem.

Here is a shot of the back of the hose holder where the line comes in. When I finish painting the wife's pergola I'll put some paint on the PVC pipe to keep the UV off it.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Here is a shot off the front of the hose holder. I really like the looks of this when I saw it. I was originally planning on doing something similar to this, but with a treated 4x4 and then a hose holder on that. Found this at TSC and made my life simpler. I think it was $20. Between buying to 4x4, a valve, a holder, and misc. pipe, I figure I would have been close to that any way - and the wife liked it so that made it even better.

The next 2 shots are pictures of her garden. This is why we ran the line. It was a pain in the butt to have to drag 225' of hose from the house back to here so that she could water.

Another shot of the garden. Last one for now, looks the rain has stopped and I can go back outside and work on getting the skimmer put in the pond in her garden.
