Cant beat Tommy's offer. He is a first class guy.

As for what I was saying was use your truck to jump start the tractor. But of instead of going battery to battery go from the trucks battery to the solenoid where the big battery red wire attaches and put the ground on the base of the starter where it bolts to the bell housing.

This way you will eliminate the tractors battery and wiring and tell you once and for all if the starter is good.

Thanks for the offer of free shipping. Money isn't a problem I just wanted to make sure it was starter. I took it to a auto electric shop to see if they could rebuild it. Will post results when I hear from them.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions. I got my rebuilt starter back from the shop yesterday and that was the problem. I would estimate it now turns over 10 times faster than it ever did. Either the starter was defective when I first got the tractor or having it rebuilt made it a lot better than the one from the factory.

The charge was $60. My wife picked it up so other than new brushes I don't know what they did for sure.

Fix was premature. The starter will not engage every time and just spins. I put on the relay but I still only get 9-10 volts at the solenoid and relay is 10. It may have it hooked up wrong so I've enclosed a picture with the connections. And yes all connections are clean.
