Most of them I have seen have had the feed wheel. That's five drive belts belts, not five knives, sorry....

As for flywheel weight, it is supposed to be 175 lbs. But a lot of the info I see on the internet is not all the same. The dealer I bought my unit from lists the shipping weight as 850 lbs, the same as the 6". Just the added weight of the 1/8" sheetmetal to extend the chute would weight a least 50 lbs. So, what you see is not exactly what you might get. Lot's of misinformation out there. And again, as to flywheel weight, I hope I never have to take it out and find out. :)

One thing I notice, is that there are no "Made in China", or "Made by XXXXX Manufacturing Company" plates on my unit. Probably for product libility cases...."I chopped my hand off, now who do I sue...." These chippers probably could never be manufactured here in the States.

To me it's amazing they can even be imported.

That's why I needed to get one before the product safety council shuts them down! :)

Oky doaky, my "Son of Jinma, so called imported, clone of Jinma, somebody made it" 8" chipper has the following dimensions, which may, or may not be the same as the 6", I knowith not....

[all dimensions +/- a few, heh, I was an electrician......]

Flywheel, 24" dia, 1 1/8" thickness. Two 10" reversible blades.

Feed Roller, looks like they [who ever they is/are] made it out of 4" pipe. It is 8 3/4" long, and 4 1/2" diameter, with rows of 1/2" searated blades welded onto it [looks like 12 rows], for a total diameter of about 5 1/2"'s.

Opening, or throat, 9 3/4" wide by 8" high, looks like they use all but the last 1/8" of knife on each end.

Chute, is about 58" long. Measured from knife to belly button.

[comes with lots of nice thin angle [shipping frame].

The weight of the flywheel is 135 lbs,I don't know where 175 lbs ever came from.I know Ronald at Ranch hand supply and he is a great servicing dealer, the model # for the Jinma chippers are JM-06 the others are WC-06 and WC-08,if you look at the specs for both models(WC-06 & WC-08) they are the same, including the flywheel and blades. Is the only difference the price??The Jinma chippers are already top heavy,so I know the others with the extended feed chute must be really top heavy,be careful

Just long enough to keep it safe... we all hope... unless your arms are a lot longer than mine! :)

So is that the best way to tell the difference... original Jinma vs. clone... the model number? Are there only two actual manufacturing sources? Sure would be nice and make it easier if they just told us the "brand name" in the ads. Unless you have a dealer nearby selling at a reasonable price... which most of us don't... you are almost forced to go eBay (or at least to some other Chinese chipper source on the Internet). :(

I still have a sneaky feeling that JINMA means something like "Chinese Party Tractor Design" and may or/may not be just one company. If Jinma was real proud of thier stuff, and was just one company, you would think they would put a metal tag or something on their stuff to signify that their Jinma is the real Jinma. All the dealers you talk to say that their stuff is the real Jinma. Some type of equipment tag, stateing country of origin, model number, etc. So, just keep your mind open and eyes wide open, too. [not trying to offend Chinese, but... "Sure, I make you REAL Jinma chipper, how many Jinma chipper you want, me make you boocoo [sorry, I was in Nam] chipper chop-chop. I make numba one chipper. ]

I have been following this thread with interest. I thought that there was only one Chinese chipper and it was made by Jinma. I'm ready to order one and was searching for the best deal. Then I find this thread and it seems there are perhaps a few different chippers coming from China, all looking and operating pretty much the same.

Then I find this eBay seller with a WC-6 chipper that he says "is not a Jinma, the Jinma was designed based on this model. We have been making this chipper for 13 years it has improvements that the Jinma does not; Saftey Features, Universal Driveline, Better Bearings, and 5 Belt System! We have only sold thru Dealers and Distributors in the past but are now selling direct to you at a lower price."

Well, now we have someone claiming that the Jinma is the copy, not the other way around!

It does have some nice looking automotive-type u-joints for the driveline. But I would have to see both machines up close to decide on whether one is actually better than the other.

So I just wanted to add some fuel to the fire. We need some definitive info on this non-Jinma regarding build quality and operating performance.

here is the sellers link where you can look at the chipper auctions:
eBay Store - Betst Companies: Flail Mower, Wood Chipper

ready to order,
still confused,

Oh MAN Jerry... I'm glad you said all that and not me!!! :D

Funny though, isn't it? I wouldn't be caught dead even sitting on a Jinma, let alone actually buying one... but I now own one of their chippers (no doubt a far more deadly & dangerous kind of machine wherein I SHOULD be even MORE concerned with design, materials, workmanship and quality control).

Funny how the world works, heh?
