Buying Advice John Deere 790 4X4 advice

I think you'll find a 6' rotary cutter a bit much for the 790. While the 790 has plenty of power to run a cutter, the weight will have you fairly light on the front wheels unless it is an extremely light duty cutter. We have found the 5' is a little better match up. If you go for the 6', make sure to do a test drive with the cutter raised before pulling the trigger.

I still really like the 790, my only concern is the lifting power and that it might not be able to handle a 6' cutter!

Does this sound expensive? Or is it worth the extra Money?

Seems to me if you shop around you could do better on the pricing. I paid less than that with a MX6 w/slip clutch (instead of LX6) and a 4-in-1 bucket with the extra valve. I wouldn't think TX would be an expensive area for tractor stuff but I don't know.

Of course I didn't pay tax on mine, not sure if that is included in your price but it would make a difference. Tax here on $17k is over $1100.

Sales tax on farm equipment is charged in the state of Alabama. It may be different if you are a farmer. I don't know.
