I lost several hitch pins the first summer I mowed with my 2520. I ended up buying the circle clips myself. I don't understand what you did to your tire, unless it was the 3pt arm rub. Also, what loader do you have on your 2520, Is it the 200x? I wonder if it can be converted to the cx. JC

The tires were mounted to the narrow position. The head of the upper pin had made a small groove in it. It was not the 3pt arm as they had not been moved from the narrow position at the time.

I had replaced all of the cotter pins with the circle clips the last time the deck fell out. One of those clips has came out or the pin broke this time. Also on the deck quick pins is gone. It was the one with the spring and a U shaped pin.

I have the 200X loader. I was shown the larger loaders today, one version had 2" sq tube legs that were removeable, a larger tube was welded to the loader arms and the legs were pinned in. I think it would be very expensive to change everything over to the 200CX style. The new 3pt arm are over $300 each. If I get my tractor back I am going to try to make something up to support the arms. The pins on the rear support bracket will have to be addressed also.

Hey 47Chevy, Welcome to TBN!!! Sorry to here about your problems. I had the tire rub issue, found it after I got my tractor home and the quick hitch on, fixed it myself by swapping the tires. No big deal, but Deere should replace them with the new style arms, IMO. I dont have a belly mower, so cant help there, however it sounds like a set-up issue to me.

Very best of luck fixing these issues!!

47,

Check out my post on the 3pt arm replacement, it's got phone #'s, recall #'s and such.

Depending on the zone manager, there seems to be varying criteria for warranty claims. Since interference was noted by the dealer before I took delivery, my claim was fully documented as a product defect.

Gordnovo also added the #'s for the 62d deck hitting the tires, check that out, could be the answer to your issues.

Tom

Things look like thay are FINALLY coming together for you...

Based on the predelivery screwup...I think you should go back to the dealer and see if you can work out a BETTER deal on the 3pt arms...;)

I did get the new 3pt arms, the tractor was delivered about 1 hr ago. The lifting arm on the deck is still bent. It is on back order and it is hard to tell when it will be here. They installed new pins and keepers. Was told the lifting linkage was binding up and it did break the 3/8" pins. It has had all on the linkage realigned and when the new arm comes in they will come and pick it up and install it.

I pulled the pins on the loader and removed it. It is easy to do takes about 10 minutes. It is supported by the rear brackets and it is attached to the rafters in the garage. It makes a big difference on how it manuvers in the yard, lots better.

Time will tell if the deck will fall out again.

If the lifting arm is bent...why did they return the tractor???

I really do not know why they returned it. I got a phone call saying it on its way and the truck with my tractor pulled up at the house as we spoke  .

I have not had time to go to the dealer to get the full info. All I was told that the lifting arm was still bent and the replacement was on backorder.

Out of curiosity, does everyone take the deck lift arms off when they are using their 2520 for other tasks? Seems like enough of a pain to take off the 62d but the lift arms seem to drag on the ground when the 3pt hitch is down all the way, like with box blading. Any easy way to tie them to the underside of the tractor so they don't need to be removed? We only use ours for mowing about 25% of the time so we are always taking the deck on and off.

The arms on my tractor are supported by the cable adjusting mechanism. I put it up all of the way when I remove the deck.

It takes about 1-2 minutes to remove my deck. About 4-5 minutes to remove the loader now. Was told not to remove the loader when we bought it just remove the bucket and use it that way. We have hit the house, garage and several trees with the loader arms.

I tie the lift arms up with zip-ties when I remove the deck. I only take the arms off in the winter when I mount my snowplow.

Well the deck came out again after about 2 hrs of mowing . This time the quick detach pin came out. The dealer pick it up on 8-26. The salesman and I talked about taking the mid mount lift completely apart and check everything. The last time it was there the mechanic did not do that, just replaced the pins . They want me to trade it off, said they are going to "cut it to the bone" on the price. I am thinking about going with a zero turn mower or the X540.

What is on the other side of the pin. I thought my 62" deck on my 2210 had big springs holding them in. Are those missing? Maybe they should put a cotter pin on the other end to keep them in there.

What all do you do with the tractor?

Once you use a z track for mowing your yard - you will not want anything else.

I had a 2210 and ended up getting a 4720 tractor and a 757 z track. The ztrack is out of this world. Rugged, fast, etc.

Bagged 131 bags of grass off my yard this weekend with it. I never see going back to a lawn tractor to mow my yard.

Mine has a spring on the inside of the pin. Yes we did talk about installing a pin with a spring clip.

Since we got the tractor back all that it has done was mow the yard twice. I do have a ditch thats about 3 ft. deep but its is wide, nice and gentle. I have mowed that ditch with other mowers and have never had any problems.

Will have to see what kind of price they are going to offer on trade before we get the zero turn mower. Time will tell what is going to happen.

Just getting tired of having problems with a 18k lawn mower :mad::mad:

Hi 47,

Sorry to hear your still having issues. I read your last post and had a thought.

If you decide to give up on the deck, instead of loosing a bunch of cash trading the tractor, loader and deck on either a zero turn or an X series, ask the dealer because your having nothing but issues with it, if he'll swap out the 62d mid and lift for credit towards a Frontier, woods or land pride rear finish mower.

I know it's not as easy mow around tight areas but they are built like tanks. They use the 3 point arms and have their own wheels so no more lift issues. The guy down the road has what looks to be a 20+yo Woods in back of his Ford 600. I think his kid mows rocks with it and it comes back for more every time.

As far as a zero turn, my BIL recommends either Scag, Walker or Wright, he owns a power equipment shop and those are the brands he sees least for big repairs.

Hope it helps,

Tom

+1 on the RFM :D

When I traded in my 2305 with a FEL & MMM I did not buy the MMM on my 2520. Honestly the main reason at the time was the price of the MMM...I found a used Brush Hog RFM for $500 on craigs list, with the i match system I can remove the RFM in under one minute and I do not have to worry about pins, lifting arms and such...

Try that with a MMM;)

   / Junk Deere 2520 and 62d falling apart #39
MMM mowers are nice and they the "norm", but there options.

I tell ya - it is hard to say MMMs are junk. I had a JD 2210 with the 62" MMM. It worked great for me. I was good at taking it on and off. I learned if I was not mowing, take it off or I will tear it up or put a hole in the hydrauluc filter.

I discovered 1 tractor would not do it all. So I bought a 4720 tractor for the larger work and kept the 2210 for smaller work. Then I screwed up and drove a z track. The 2210 found a new home and I mow with the z track. It is built like a tank - works great.

OK, where am I going wit this story? I sold my 2210 to a buddy of mine. He has had all kinds of problems with the deck. Some how the deck got warped. Not once, but twice. I think he is going to get a RFM instead of repairing the MMM next time. He has a bad back, so i match on the RFM would be easier for him instead of a MMM anyway.

Maybe your dealer would let you demo a RFM and see if that does what you need.

Best of luck,
D.

I got the tractor back last night. Parked it in the garage and have not looked at it. Was at the dealer yesterday just killing time before I went to work. Found out that the replacement arm came in 8-12. They did not know this as the parts dept did not tell anyone . They also told me that they only wanted to trade up to the 2720. If I want anything else (zero turn mower) it would be an even trade.

If I knew of a place to sell the tractor I would do it.
