Never be a battery operated saw here. I don't care for them generally. Been my observation that Stihl's in general are really chocked down, muffler wise. I know the MS I bought needed some serious muff mods.

My only 'cordless' stuff is my 20 volt hand tools and only because the cord is an inconvenience.

So far, so good. Fueled it, oiled it and started on the 2nd pull. Greased the roller nose too.

You finding fines in your carb throat from getting by air filter on this series echo? Just curious. Most folks find them on 490 4910 501. I did too.

Easy fix in pic. Stops it.

do you have a step by step procedure on how to keep the fines out of the carb throat and retune your carb?

I have two CS-490's that run well but would like to keep them running well for a long time.

I just use an o-ring on the throat for my 490 and 620, seems to work ok.
Does seem like a weak link.

Best thing for the 490 501 4910 is the 272 o-ring inside air filter.

Can see it inside filter in pic in my 490 and friends 4910 pic

Just got a new Echo top handle gas saw to replace the Stihl Arborists saw I ran over. Stihl was 700 clams, the Echo was 275. Stihl is pricing themselves out of the market.
Which TH echo? 2511 271 355 are the newer. What stihl you run over? Hopefully not a 200T.

355 echo is more on line with 201 stihl

2511 echo is on line with 150 151 stihl

271 a budget between saw.

What model Echo top handle did you get for $275? Lowest price on Echo TH I have found is a CS-271T for $340. This was at Home Depot.

CS271T12 with an extra bar and 2 loops. Almost bought the 14" bur didn't. Very nice, built in Japan saw.

What I find somewhat interesting is, the Echo is almost an exact copy of the Japanese Tanaka (no longer made), top handle arborist saw, right down to the air cleaner cover. I believe Makita bought Tanaka and discontinued the saws but I could be wrong. My buddy has one (Tanaka top handle), nice saw. It certainly was a lot less than the Stihl top handle that I crushed.
