Going to test this packrat 346 44.3 afm mm against my 501 mm. Will be using same C33 325 chain on both saws.

It's the one that somehow out cut the last OEM cylinder 44.3 NE 346 I rebuilt and sold. Couldn't tell it till timed the cuts. Surprised a bunch of us.

That should tell me how close this afm 44.3mm is out of the box.

Echo 501

Even took the trufuel 40:1 out of the 501 I was testing it with. Never a issue and never changed tune.

So same batch of Efree 89 40:1 VPracing oil mix in both saws.

Same C33 325 will be on both.

Frozen maple 9x8 3/4. The 346 only started 2nd tank on aftermarket 44.3mm set.
Out of the box untouched.

Echo 501 is one that out cut my last oem 346 NE.
I have not timed anything yet. But going to say 501 on this match felt ahead. When ran the OEM cylinder saw last match I didn’t think that. But 501 was quicker then too

Do you ever come across any Makita/Dolmer 6401/6421/6400? Preferably with a worn out P&C? I've had a oem 7900 P&C for my 6401 sitting on the shelf, but the saw just keeps on going! Would like to build one up.

Seems all the cheap used makitas have disappeared in my area.

Guy south of me just sold a nice looking ported 6401 for 400. Another guy south of me about 30mins has a stock 6401 FS in my chainsaw repair group in 300-400 range.
Another on FB market place for 350.

Just watch FB MP. 64 73 79 all the time being sold. Some 79's now.

I just dont do the dolmars or makita myself for many years now.

Heck parts were hard enough and I had dealers around me back then.

Hand timing smaller stick. I am getting give or take 346 AFM 44.3mm MM 4.47 4.40 4.44 and 501 MM 3.87 3.61 3.50

So if oem 44.3 was about 7% difference then 501. Does this come out to about 9% difference for afm 44.3mm? I was corrected to AFM 17% difference.

So AFM cylinder is 10% slower then the OEM cylinder 44.3mm on last saw.

For $40 bucks for AFM 346 44.3mm thats a win for joe homeowner fixing a saw for himself.

I put on untouched like they would. Ugly ports and bevels and all. Warhawk and Dukes looked identical comparing them.

Been looking for a while, only one not a couple hundred miles away the guy won't respond. Wish I had bought another one before Home Depot switched to the 6100.

Next in line to probably test.

Looking at 45mm cylinders that the transfers are made like the 346 cylinder. Thinking might be my next test cylinder on Packrat 346.

Corey showed me one and it peeked my interest.

So far I see Meteor 45mm. Hyway Nikasil 45mm. I swear those 2 look identical.

Then I see Hyway Titanikel 45mm pop up and Hyway Nikasil pop up.

Is there others made like this I missed?

Has anyone already tested these with any feedback?

Wondering if better out of the box then the 44.3mm Dukes and Warhawk?

So impressed with the new member of my tag team. That echo 2511 rear handle with nano 325 043 nk set up throws some dang chips as a limber.
Used for 12" under there was no stopping it on the multiple truck maple 5.

Used the hack ported 490 with front and rear 501 handles. No vibrations felt like the plastic crap did.
Running the stock 18" with 23RS the new stuff.

My poor 490 would not start yesterday, so switched to the 620P which started nicely.
Bit overkill for the work I had on 2 dead Ash.
Lots of powder along with chips, so will need to file the chain.
These trees are very punked when they fall and shatter.

Will look at the 490 later.

I should have took this maple out 25-30 years ago. Now it has become a worry with the power wire, transformer pole and guide wire.

4 of 5 down. Need to top the 5th one as it is bad leaner and will easily catch power wire. I'm not skilled enough to swing it other way.

Heck the 4th one dropped got me on that and got lucky.

When ever I get healed up. I am going to cut the bigger logs to my cant stand length for saw testers.

Be careful out there when you get tired. Caught one to the ribs bad and sent me flying. Can hear what I think are bones cartilage popping when I move.

Echo 490 was a trooper, I could hear it running somewhere behind me. I could only just lay there and was trying to tell wife to go shut it off. 😁

Using the Fabcorp 359 and the base delete 359 with mm I got in trade toward my 670 Champ with some other stuff. Never got a chance to test that new 359 out to see how she runs. Just went trough it and fixed some antivibe issues.

The 2511's are just unreal! I have been hearing many tree companies are moving to them now.

Have you ran one next to your 2511 clone? If so, thoughts?

Not same set ups though. 325 043 nano is fast and smooth. 1/4" mini micro isnt fast but is super smooth.

The 2511 clone is open port and stock little pipe on open muffler. The oem 2511 closed port has that Egan pipe for like 28% gain alone beside chain.
But if clone was set up same it would be real close.

Heck was close enough as I use clone for pruning right now.

Clones are just not refined and $130 compared to $500 too.

I will be buying a rear handle clone when released. They said still coming.

People need to quit supporting China made stuff and buy domestic if possible. I'm sure however that the Chink stuff will go way up in price, very soon...lol

My old Silvey grinder and my Stihl USG sure wasnt China made. 😂

Yeah, what he said. I don't post here much because I have nothing to contribute; but enjoy reading this thread.

I completely agree. I go to great extent to not buy anything made in China. I don't always find made in USA like I want. But nearly anything outside of China has benefits to me.
