Morning Laugh in my chainsaw repair group.

We go through this all the time. Folks need to learn their chains they have or bring them in with them.

I bring my chain in. When I get a new chain I take the cover off the box and put it in the glove compartment.
Then clean the truck and throw it out!

Stump chunked.

Where I had cut was higher then measured at flare of 48". Ended up cutting 46x45.

Farmertec G444 even stock with their DP muffler is a beast.

Would you give the greenlight to buy a Farmertech big CC saw for running a 36” bar maybe 1-2 times/month? I don’t know if they offer one…..

Would you also give the green light to run one with an Alaskan saw mill? 80-90cc (whatever they make).

Heck yes. I know guys been running them on mills for years. Some stock some modded.

You need to know your way around the older better chainsaws IMHO. How to tune, how to check over etc before using. Most are not plug and play like todays world. Heck even oem aint like that for me and echo's.

I would rather tear one of these up doing grunt work then a oem saw. Cheap to buy and cheap to fix.

G888 G660 G395 and now a G3120.

My G888 and G660 I had a local wanted for his mill set ups.

Guy I know in pic that makes a living milling.

They would probably work, for awhile.

What you want is this (below)...it's bomb proof and will last a very long time under heavy duty cycle. I just don't know if the chinaisium has all that much duty cycle.

They have a Gen2 of the MS880. The later ones with 2 piece mufflers. I hated them when 088 and 880 gen1 had cast muffler set ups.

Being your a stihl first kind of guy. G888 with a 361 coil. Mine would take locals 088 lunch.

But smaller cheaper G395 pullds 36" like a beast in hardwoods. Save weight and cost. Then G660 but only ran 66 oem and clones up to 32" hardwoods.

Clones you need to know how to tune etc from get go. No one to set them up right for ya. Unless you buy from Jes MT and Scott PA in USA and tell them set saw up and prerun for you. www.bluesaws.com

No more blue ones though. All orange, orange grey, etc now though.

They quit making them in BLUE. I always tried to buy BLUE one.

I always bought blue and hard for next guy to scam someone years down the road that way.

The G3120 looks just like a husky. All orange. I would have liked a all blue. But I have no need for these anymore.

I bought one of my oem back and was like wth did I do that. Sold it 2 days later. :ROFLMAO:

Also why as soon as I took this one in I listed it FS.

It was woods ported by friend out west Jason Egan and ran sweet. Unlimited coil with H side carb.

Reason shown in this other pic PHO weight even more then G888 MS880

Ran by owner 3 options. Oem, afm carbs and redneck fix.

The redneck fix. Smooth the worn lips. Shape plate back to work. Take a longer screw from another carb. Loctite the heck out of it.

She lives. Choke fix worked.

I know its just like any thing else, if you do it enough you get good at it, but I am always impressed with people that are good at carb work. I am a pretty handy guy. I can wrench on many things and learned as a farm kid where dad and grandpa were cheap and didn't believe in paying someone to do something they could figure out. But the fine art of carburetors I just haven't picked up yet. I have a guy that fixes atvs for me and he's amazing at it. Can take any small engine and just make it run like new.

I've learned over the years that corn squeezed gas (ethanol) and chainsaws don't get along well, least in my world they don't because my saws sit a lot and are not used so the corn squeezed gas coagulates in the carbs and causes issues and why I run syn gas, in my case Echo Red Armor 50-1. Saves me the grief of gummy carbs. Not for frequent users but in my situation it works very well. Nice thing about syn gas is it can sit in 2 stroke equipment for a long time and not cause issues and an unopened can of Red Armor has a 2 year shelf life.
