Was a balmy -14 here this AM on way to work, I think WC was -30's must be all that Global Warming... :D
My good ole trusty 250K mile T-Bird fired up in it's normal 3 cranks or less... The old studded snows were a bit harsh all way to work tho.

I realize California gets has a bad rap on many things and one is overall cost of living...

It must take a toll on those living in frigid and extended severe cold... right?

Extra for heating, days lost to weather and overall wear and tear to vehicles from the cold, traffic accidents and rust.

36 degrees in southern Georgia today...on our way back north after 6 weeks in Florida. We're waiting a little longer to continue north. Its -4 there this morning and that's much better than many days recently.

Also, temperature in your backyard is not the way science is done:
Nationally, it's been one of the warmest winters on record

I order 20 face cords (there are 3 FC's in a bush cord) of firewood every fall + one to two tanks of furnace oil. I make sure I have a full tank of oil in November and then again in March, so no fear of condensation getting into the tank. The tank is outside.
I take a 'lay off' in winter so there are no 'days lost' due to weather. Road salt is brutal on vehicles, but it is worse if you keep your vehicle in a heated garage. Salt stops 'working' at -12, so no worries there.
Traffic accidents are man made and I try to avoid them. All it takes is to 'pay attention'.

We're at -17 right now. Thankfully no wind. I need to finish shoveling the roof today as we have more coming.

We're @ +14 on the way to a high of 26, we're talking shirt sleeves & shorts weather! ;)
