I wasn't comparing anything. I was just providing some information presented by Kubota about what they believe are comparable tractors. If you have a problem with the comparison, take it up with Kubota.

AB4D,

based on the spec's below, do you think Kubota is doing a good job in the marketing department? As you can see it not a fair or even close comparision. Come on orange fan's, I would be raising the holly stink on this -
(just kidding).

I don't see anybody pushing position control. If you have ever had it you wouldn't want to be without it no matter who makes it.

Yeah, that was mentioned earlier. I think Taiser himself may have even mentioned it. He is aware of it. I know the B7800 has quarter-inching control and the B2630 has position control. I have tried to talk him into the B2630 but it seems to be a little bit too expensive for him.

He has obviously never had it or it would be on the top of the list for needs.

Hey gents...

Yeah I'm aware of the QI on the kubota, not a big concern for me but the deere is in the running now, what I'm worried about is the loader and backhoe sizes/comparison, are they roughly the same size??? I've seen deere with mighty small looking loaders in front, if they are both roughly the same physical size then I may end up getting the deere mostly because it IS comparable to the 2630 which I would like but is not available on sale right now so I'd be getting the 7800. I can't find the loader sizes online and the ground clearances for the kubota is also hard to find (7800).

Like I mentioned before the Kubota dealer here scares me, the guys that work there all look like they are 21 and a co-worker of mine brought his chain saw in for maintenance there (also a husqvarna dealer) and they installed the chain backwards!!!!! I also had a funny exchange when I was asking about the plastic fenders on the BX24 (wanted to make sure they had been upgraded) and the guy argued with me for 5 minutes saying they were metal, until we went out and he tapped them himself. Did not inspire confidence in me that's for sure, and no he was not "new" there he was one of the salesman/financial guy at the shop!

Unfortunatly I can't see or feel the deere because the dealer (who I've had a super relationship with, at least over the phone) is quite a ways away. But I have seen similar models and they appear to fit me fine, I'm just average size, 5'10 and 220 lbs so it should be comfy.

BTW here in canuck land both machines equipped the way I want them are well over 30k, not chump change, that's for sure :), so that's why I'm having a bit of trouble deciding. For me this will be the only machine I'm likely to get for 20-30 years so I want to make sure it's the right one.

WOW!! That's pretty steep! Are you talking Canadian or US dollars there? For that price you could get an M-series with loader down here!

Sounds like the Deere may be winning by a nose. I get a good visualization of that Kubota dealership and it sounds like you may want to keep your distance. I CAN'T BELIEVE I JUST SAID ALL THAT!! And I am such a Kubota fan!:D

Canadian, machines are about 28k or so then the beautiful provincial tax and goods and services tax adds up to an extra 14% on top of that. :(

Whether they are doing a good job depends on what their goal was in the comparison, but I don't have that information. However, maybe in the case of the 3030, perhaps Kubota was trying to show that you can get a 30 hp tractor in a lighter package, which IMO is a plus for grounds keeping work, less weight = less damage to someone's lawn, but who knows what Kubota was trying to accomplish?.

[Taiser: I can't find the loader sizes online and the ground clearances for the kubota is also hard to find (7800).]

Taiser, the ground clearance for the B7800 is 14.6", the loader is the LA402, which the capacites are:

Max lift at piviot pin, 1060 pounds, Lift capacity at full height, 760 pounds, Break out force, 1684 pounds, Bucket width, 54".

Good luck with your decision, as I said before, JD and Kubota both make good tractors, but I highly recommend that you make it a point to go look at and get your hands on both tractors before you decide. With the amount your going to spend you don't want to have any regrets.

In our quest to quantify our decision on what tractor and what brand to purchase, do you think we sometimes get bogged down in the details? If we stay at 30,000 feet and look at the choice rather than get down in the weeds with tiny details we can sometimes elevate the decision up to bigger more relevant factors. Five years from now you won't remember any of the details, only bigger issues will matter.

First I look at the company. What is the long term viability of the company? Look at the stock price for the last 5 or 10 years. Yahoo! Finance Charts
CNH has lost value over the last 5 years while Kubota and Deere have gained in value. I think this says their products and services are being well managed and the consumers think so also. I can still get any part for my 25 year old tractor from the manufacturer. If you can't get the financials for the company run as fast as you can. That's telling you something. Look at the technology in the design and manufacture. As an example I have seen tractors that appear very state of the art and very heavy, but on close examination the castings were very coarse, ill fitting and simple. They look like the castings from a Ford 8n.

Next I would look very carefully at the dealer. How successful are they? Are they growing? How professional is the operation? Full time mechanics? How large is the parts department? Full time parts man? What size inventory do you see? Do they sell high quality implements or is it price, price, price? Do they have a good market share? Are they committed to the brand you have chosen? If you end up moving will there be a quality dealer in your new location?

When you come right down to it both these tractors will mow, drag and lift pretty much the same. Drive them and get a feel for how the tractor fits you . Look at the ergonomics. Lastly, if status or personal taste is important look at the color. As long as you choose between two similar tractors the tiny details just don't matter. No matter which one of these you choose you will be happy with your tractor.
