Keep Truck in garage or the tractor?

My wife's car and the tractor get the garage. My truck stays out. Something about an open cab on the tractor makes it necessary.

Geographic location is an important aspect no one seems to mention and has a big impact on storage. Arizona sun vs New England snow vs Pacific NW rain. Hard to know applicability without knowing it

Truck goes in the garage. It rusts faster, and rust will have a MUCH larger impact on its effective lifespan and resale value. My 2000 F350 has spent its entire life outside. I'd be lucky to get scrap value out of it at this point, and a paint job isn't going to fix it. Not a huge deal because I bought it used from a guy that lived about 4 miles down the road who had bought it new. Had it been garage kepth, the truck could be worth $20k or more. Conversely, my 1983 Ford 1710 has also lived its entire life outside. The paint looks like crap, but if that was its main issue, a decent paint job would fix 80% of that problem.

yep, kept the truck in. Added a couple of bays and a lean to to the garage, problem solved ! Should have done it years ago.
One of the first 'home improvements' I did was to build a 'barn/shop' with a concrete slab, insulated walls, ceiling and a metal roof. Designed so the tractor could fit in from the rear and a larger vehicle had access from the front With a 'man door' as well.

And I only spent 12K on the tractor and implements! I also built a garden shed (concrete slab) and another larger shed on footers.

I still have my first 4x4 and my first tractor and they all sleep inside.

I'm amazed at my neighbors that have nicer, newer equipment they have yet to pay for and leave it sitting out 24/7/365.

I have yet to replace the HVAC (and today's prices are likely to keep me from doing for a while longer) although I did put a new roof on and rebuild the Bathroom and Kitchen (don't buy white kitchen cabinets if you're not planning on selling as soon as it's finished!

Think of the REPLACEMENT COST of your equipment. If it would cost you 100K to replace that equipment - think of what return you could get on that 100K if the bank is paying 5.15% APR ($300/month!)

The pickup is painfully cold to drive for the first 15-20 miles on a cold day,
I drink hot coffee every day. Years ago I discovered that coffee keeps one warm in ways I'd theretofore never imagined.

I had a 'tall' (16oz?) cup from 7/11 (back when 'refills were free' it paid to save your old 7/11 cups - I had some really old ones at ties).

I'd brew the coffee McDonald's Hot, fill my cup and go to the cold cold car (Wintertime, of course). Slip in the driver's seat and put my coffee cup between my legs while I started the car.

Maybe it was just me (or one of those things), but it made me feel warm all over as the vehicle warmed up a bit slower.

Don't forget to put a lid on it!

My truck is worth way more than my tractor, it lives in the garage. Tractor is under a steel carport outside.

Wife's car & tractor in the garage here too, but only in the winter. Both live outside rest of the year. A garage is way too valuable of a building to waste it storing vehicles in. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: Mine doubles as my workshop.

My 2 vehicles live outside year round.
The sun in general is wicked on Kubota's, especially the paint that fades from Kubota Orange to Mary Kay pink.
Likewise Kioti, especially the wheels. I even repainted the wheels and they turned pink-ish again.

If the tractor loses this competition, at least put an old tin can over the exhaust (if it's the vertical kind). Just my two cents.

Or better, use one of those weighted flapper covers like my old JD had. This way you don't have to remember to do it each time you park it.
