I should add that on most days, we receive a modest snow fall. Like I stated earlier, over the past few days we got no more than a dusting but if you get some 5 days out of there week, it adds up. For XC trails, this dusting is prefect for refurbishing your trails. This is an old photo.

We're headed up north tomorrow night for a long weekend of snowmobiling. I have to change the batteries in my trail cameras so I'll get some pictures of the trails my neighbors have been grooming on the old logging roads through my property.

Yep. Once you're in the water, it's not too bad. The run across the ice in your skivvies to and from the hole in the ice is by far the toughest part.

Coffee stop on the way in this morning.

I’ve been a biker rider off and on for years, nor very serious but bought an e bike about 6 months ago. I rode a lot before hard winter set in. I don’t plan on riding in snow or every cold temps. Did you stud your tires though?

I have a couple different options given conditions-

The long tail cargo bike pictured runs on 2.1" marathon gt 365s, a highly siped, very soft rubber tire like a car snow tire. Works great on clear pavement, but also in very cold temperatures on packed snow like we have now. Doesn't do so hot on glare ice, especially when we start getting closer to freezing.

My goto winter commuter is on 700x35 studded tires. Really great traction on ice, but the narrow tires can get a little squirrely in the soft snow.

Then there's the fat bike- for when you really need some float. Great for trails like ArlyA grooms. Also super fun in late winter when we get a good sun crust built up enough to ride on top of. It's like somebody poured a foot of concreate over the forest floor and you can ride wherever you want.

We have about as much down here by the Ohio border.. Be glad when the crocuses come up, sure sign of spring.

Nice pupper too. Austrailian Shepherd maybe? Looks like ours but ours is brown and white and loves romping the the snow.

We are at about 140" now. I didn't think the Ohio border got all that much.
