when I did my "300" hr service at 358 hrs I finally figured out where/how to get the hydro screen off and cleaned, I just thought I'd post a few pics and see what anyone thought.

Hey, everybody.

The B has been an awesome tractor that has never missed a single beat along the way.

I said a long time ago that when the day came I didn't need the B's size, I'd go back to a BX in a heartbeat. They're both terrific machines. It may not quite be time yet, but Father Time marches relentlessly on. The bones ache and the joints are getting about all worn out. May down size the physical space of the vegetable operation next summer. We'll see. Business has boomed and increased each year, but the physical work gets harder and harder, that's all I'll say about that.

So, who knows. Been so long since I wrote this article that I'm coming up on another round of service in spring. I'll still crawl around and do it myself. There really nothing to it and I still enjoy it. I'd still rather do it myself. It's simply impractical to consider hauling a tractor some 50 miles to a dealer. Besides which, the satisfaction of a job well done and knowing it was done right? Priceless.

Been wondering where you were. Guess working men have less computer time than us semi retired guys but have missed you. I try to bump the Classic posts like this from time to time. Great when you did it and still great.
I've now got a B2620 FEL BH but really miss my BX25 and bought a used B7100 HST 4wd with 1100 hours that needs a new home.:D

Getting ready to do 50 hour service on my B2620 so bumping this for my use shortly and also great thread.

It is a good thread, and I just HAD the 50 done on my BX, it was part of the deal when I bought it. From here on in I would imagine I will service it myself. For the little BX there is not much to it, but I would also say get that 50 done as close to that magic number as you can. That oil has been in that engine starting at day 1. Get it the heck out of there. It is also a good time to crawl under your machine (I do this anyway) and check things out (That pesky fan for example, and some rubber booties) It is not that hard, and if you have basic tools and know how you can do this yourself.

Just found this thread in time for my 200 hour (okay, 215) service. Since it seems fall is a popular time to do this, I thought I would bump this up.

Thank you Mr. Fick.

Two hours away from my "300 hours" service mark!
Ordered a "Filter Maintenance Kit" and will pickup my oils this weekend. Planing on using Super UDT in the hyrdo.
I'll do my "yearly" maintenance as well. Engine oil/filter, fuel filter and air elements get changed every fall. She'll get all her joints greased as well while I'm at it.
And as a "special treat"...I just received my "Pat's Quick Hitch" from the UPS driver. Will get that installed on the 3-point once I finish up a little backhoe work that needs to be done.

I really understand where you are coming from on the whole concept of doing it yourself. I sure do thank you BP and John Thomas for the great threads. I am still 10 hours away from 50 hours, and will wait for a break in the temperatures here in the Northern Lower Peninsula before I start crawling around on the concrete. Great thread.

I have B7800 equipped with the BH75. The BH75 was purchased about a year after I bought the used B7800. I performed the 300 hour service last fall and I was unable to remove the Hydraulic Suction Filter located on the right side of the tractor as the BH75 sub frame blocked access. I had originally performed the same service at 100 hours after purchasing the tractor prior to the installation of the BH. I would like to know if anyone else has encountered the same problem and their solution short of removing the BH and the right side sub frame?
