Mowing Kubota BX24. Real tractor or a glorified lawn mower?

I am about to buy a second hand BX24 with 140 hours on the hour meter. This is a 2007 model. Is there any way to make sure the hours shown are correct?

other then looking at the LCD hour meter yourself, there not other way to verify the hours. Just turn the key on but dont start it will show the hours.

I doubt it, the digital tacs are notorious for resetting on their own, let alone if someone would tamper with it.

Mine is a 2008, and I have about 165. So it is possible that it is accurate. Ask what he did with it, and you can figure it out from there.

If you are real supicious about the only other thing I would think you could do is do a compression and just look for obvious signs of wear. A more used tractor will have battle wounds, but if it was only used to mow, it won't show much wear and don't think the hours will make much of a difference. It just depends on how well it is maintained.

1*I bought a JD X320 mower a year earlier than my BX24. Wish I saved that 4K and bought the BX from the start.

1*The 4000 would have made a good down payment on the BX24.

Real tractor plus a whole lot more.
I've had the bx24 now for about 2 years.
It is an amazing piece of equipment.
I've used a fair number of other machines, usually in new condition - Cases, Deeres, Terexs, backhoes, forklifts, front end loaders, track hoes, bobcats, and various weird pieces of big and small specialty equipment for loading planes in the military.
Even with this background, the bx24 has surpassed every expectation of mine and continues to amaze me.
It is *real tractor* made to be small, but that is all that distinguishes it from bigger backhoes. It is all tractor otherwise.
2* Oh - and whatever you do don't get a glorified lawn mower or some atv with attachments, no matter whose name is on it. Deere or not, those things just aren't made to do the things you'll want to do. Step up, pay the bucks, and get a sub-compact tractor - they really are different creatures.

I've got a BX22, FEL with removable teeth, BH, 54"MMM, 60" RB, & now a B2781 52"SB. I've dig around 15 Fish ponds (1500G+), the foundation for my workshop (24x36x9), & will be digging the foundation for an addition on my house (24x65x9) inculding 200ft fo sewer trench 6ft deep. During the snow I've pushed/dragged snow for 10 of my neighbors driveways, & ~1200ft of road 18ft wide. Before I got my BX, I destroyed 5 garden tractors (albeit used) in 4 yrs. SWMBO was not a happy camper despite the $9200 in '04. (New old stock). She changed her mind when we got 30" of snow & she was buried. I cleared her parking place then hooked a chain up & pulled her right out, She just said "Wow, I guess you were right. I hate that." Then gave me a cup of coffe & said "How soon can you clear the rest out?" 4 Hrs later the whole neighborhood was done. The neighbors just kicked in some $$ & I could get the B2781. Gonna make my life a whole bunch easier.

I have a BX24 and the backhoe will cut through an asphalt driveway, I had to run a control/power cable for a powered gate installation and it solved the problem.

I love my 2360 but wish the dump cylinder was stronger, is it possible to put a stronger cylinder on it?

The dump cylinder should curl about 900 lbs. Why do you need more? Are you doing something unusual?

dd margo- two things- its how you do the curl- and the breakout force is limited by relief spring. Perhaps you should find out what your relief is set at.

If you are already set at factory max setting, then going higher will get you a smilely put into your bucket. Not something I want in mine.
