Kubota L3710 LA682 Loader Heavy-duty Bucket

I have a 3710 with FEL and standard bucket. Works great. No problems. Use the loader most of the time I use the tractor. The 66" standard bucket will just cover the width of the R4 tires. I prefer to have the bucket wider than the tires and this is not possible with 60 inch bucket (maybe with R1 tires?). Unless you do a lot of rock moving, the standard bucket should be fine IMHO.

I purchased the HD bucket because I plan to move a lot of rock. The standard bucket will probably work as well but I wanted extra strength more then capacity. Just by looking at the HD bucket it appears to be just that.
I do not plan on buying another one so I went heavy!

Thank you for your response to my question. The picture you attached has been a great help.

I have a few more questions reguarding your heavy-duty bucket.

Exactly how wide is it? Kubota's literature says it is 60", but the standard buckets I have seen at the dealership
are not exactly the size Kubota claims they are.

I noticed in the picture that you have welded three chain hooks on the top of the bucket.
They are orange and match the bucket. When the bucket was new, was it orange or was it black?
One of the responses to my postings says this it the same bucket used on the Backhoe/loader
version of the "L" Series Kubota's and they are black. Did you paint it orange after welding
on the hooks?

What is the thickness of the metal which makes up the center section of the bucket which includes the bottom,
the rounded back, and upper rounded lip of the bucket? The standard bucket is 1/8" thick steel. The black bucket
that was on the Backhoe/loader I saw was made of 3/16" thick steel.

The supports on the back of the bucket which connect the bucket to the loader and hydraulic cylinders.
Do they wrap completely around the back side of the bucket from top to bottom?

Are there any wear pads (plate steel) welded to the bottom of the bucket?

You said in your response that if it wasn't for the stoney conditions in your area that you
may have bought the standard bucket. May I ask why?

I know this seems like a lot of questions for a loader bucket, but I have spoken to three different
Kubota Dealers within a 100 mile radius of my home and none of them have sold any heavy-duty buckets.
I find this strange. The option is only $200 dollars. Which is nothing when you factor in the total cost
of the tractor. The dealers claim it is very hard to bend one of these buckets. Most of the responses to
my posting have suggested to get the standard bucket because it is bigger and because there have been very
few postings of problems with the standard bucket. Another reason I am asking these questions is my neighbor
owns a B2910 and has bent the bottom of his bucket. I realize his bucket is not a heavy as the bucket on the
L3710 tractor, but his loader is not as powerful either.

I ordered my new tractor today. I have to let the dealer know next week which bucket I want him
to order. So, any answers or comments to the above questions would be appreciated.

P.S. If it is not to much trouble, any other pictures you may have that show more details of your
your heavy-duty bucket would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again for you information!!!!!!

Just wondering, since you are interested in a heavy duty bucket and also larger bucket, if the 72" heavy duty bucket for a LA852 loader might have the same hook up. One of these came with my L4610 and 852 loader, and in my opinion is not as large as the fel could handle. If you are interested, I would be glad to get any measurments off of it for you.

I would have to say the bucket is about 60" wide, as advertised.

The chain hooks were welded on at the dealer as per my request. Original bucket was orange and they just touched up their work.

I would guess that the main body of the bucket is about .180 to .2" thick. As the body curves to the bottom, it meets a right angle piece equal to or heavier in thickness. This right angle piece forms the drag blade on the bottom back of the bucket as well as reinforcing the floor of the bucket.

The front edge of the bucket is about 1/2" think and easily accepts a toothbar.

As for the rock issue. I find I am often moving rock that is at or above the capacity of this loader. The picture you saw was from when I received the tractor from the dealer. I must say the bucket is not so pretty now - no damage at all - but this is no hanger queen - this tractor works. It really depends on what you intend to do with the tractor. If you are using the bucket for moving snow and soil, you are probably fine with a standard bucket (which is a bit bigger). If you are building stone walls (BTW all the stone round here is granite) you will either want to reinforce the standard bucket or go for the HD version. The HD bucket will take anything I can throw at it and come out smiling - can't say I have as much confidence in the standard - but it all depends on what you are doing. It's raining toady but I'll try to get out to the barn later and snap a few more picts.

Hope this helps.

I bent the HD bucket when I had a 2710 a couple years ago.
Just doing light scraping, gravel moving, earth moving -- all done gently.

After several other tractors, I'm going to go back to a 2910. My dealer is going to weld an additional piece if strap iron behind the cutting edge on the bottom of the bucket to help keep this from happening again
