Kubota L3710
I have a Kubota L3710 with HST. It began refusing to crank this year.

I noticed that the tractor would start when I jiggled the F/R pedal, so I thought there had to be a sensor somewhere that prevented the tractor from starting unless the pedal was disengaged. I have since been told this model has no such sensor. I could not find one when I crawled under it, and I can't find one on diagrams.

Today I needed to pull my Dodge Ram out so a tow truck could take it in for work, and the Kubota started acting up again. I finally had to give up and pull the Kubota and truck with a JD garden tractor. I told the tow guy the Kubota would start right up as soon as he left, and sure enough, that's what it did. Irritating.

The tractor runs until I shut it off. The mystery issue does not shut the engine down. Someone suggested there could be a problem with the neutral safety switch. I don't know if that would shut a running engine down.

What is the most likely problem?

The dash lights turn on, except for the glow plug light. When the tractor actually cranks, the glow plug lights up. I think.

There's a safety switch connector on the starter on my 1999 L3710 that acts up sometimes.

Thanks for the replies. Right now, this one is looking promising.

Will the safety switch shut the motor off? If so, it's not my issue.

Thanks. I'll try to find it.

There is an HST pedal switch and clutch safety switch off the L10 series tractors. On my previous L3410, the clutch had to be depressed to start, and I believe the HST pedal had to be neutral to start.
Neither of these switches will affect the running tractor, as I used to creep the tractor from outside when attaching implements.

A guy who claims to know about this showed me parts diagrams and says the L3710 has no switch on the F/R pedal.

Straight out of the workshop manual:
