Kubota L4300 2 or 4WD vs L31304WD?

I really loved the L3130HST...liked the way it felt...does that make sense?

That makes perfect sense. The L3130HST was the first of the many new tractors I test drove and it does have that good control feeling. Whenever my tractor starts feeling wimpy it is because I am not in 4WD and not in the Low range of the HST. If you don't have a lot of low trees and you don't have to lower your ROPS to get inside a tractor shed/garage, consider a canopy to get that blaring Texas heat off of you, it sure makes it pleasant and this would be your 'flowers for the little lady' type of thing?! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oh yes, I did lots of work on the 8N, wouldn't take anything for the memories either and would have only had an 8N but the frustration in it was the repair bills, down time and the lack of South Texas 8N repairmen. I loved that 8N for all the mesquite and cactus growth it downed but being a girl I do not have the know how to fix things myself. I had to drag in X and an old boyfriend (that didn't know anything about tractors but plenty about cars) just to get it started...not what I really want to do...and this last time neither of them could get it going and we had to use a comealong to get it up on the trailer and out of the field. Whew...rather stick with the good 8N memories and start off with a new tractor! And as far as the canopy, TXDon, why not! Is $395 for an aluminum canopy a good price? And yes, I probably will die broke! But someone will get a great tractor and beautifully developed 18 acres! -e-

There must be something about the L3130HST, the wife says the same thing about our L3130HST w/FEL. And yes it will handle 900lb. round bales with 3pt. spear with no problems. Our tractor is equipped w/R4 tires so I didn't mess with rear wheel spacing.

I started looking for a replacement tractor with a B7800 but moved to a B2910 then to an L3130. No comparison with the L3130. I will buy an L3130HST with LA723 with quick attach option, R4 tires and one remote auxillary valve. The whole deal is just over $19,000. I second the 4WD having lived in the texas coastal plain before moving to Brazos County were I have deep sand. I have stuck 2WD tractors in both places where a 4WD would have kept me going. Had to use 4WD pickup to get the tractor out. Good Luck

There are but a couple of folks here that would argue the merit of 4WD. I forget the one fella, he's got his mug prominetly placed in his signature. When you load a tractor, weight is always shifitng from front to back etc. Fill your loader up with a good load and try backing up a hill in 2WD. Just one of many examples of why 4WD is an incredible bonus. I think the L3130 is a great little tractor, almost had one myself.

I got my ORANGE metal WELLS AG canopy from the dealer installed for $325. (It was "Bird" approved.) You can use this as a comparison. See attachment! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That does look like mine, and at the time I bought I bought mine, the diamond plate aluminum was the same price as the steel painted to match the tractor.

I wasn't sure how much good 4wd would do me, either. Then winter hit and after trying to plow the first time, I ran in 4wd all the rest of the season. It won't help you if you get it well and truly stuck, but that's what the loader is for.

if you were happy with the n you will be thrilled with the L3130HST.
pros:
1. weights 1100 lbs more=more traction
2. differential lock=more traction
3. 4wd=more traction
4. wider tires=more traction/more stable
5.hst=ease of use/ no cluching excp to start/ pto speed remains constant regaurdless of speed
6. power tilt steering= comfort/less tiring/no jerking in steering
7.diesel=less fuel burnt/more torque
8. independant pto= much safer
9. rops(roll bar)=life or death
10. postion control on rear hitch= stays where you put it
11.pto hp will be greater due to wear on old n, both rated about the same.
12. wet brakes= more stopping power/less upkeep/not that a hst needs brakes
cons
1.cost
2. neighbors envy

i bought a L3830 last month to replace a mf135 and wish i'd bought it long ago. i did't think i needed 4wd but got it for resale as my land is flat, have used it several times just for extra pulling will not have another 2wd.as for hst and bells and whistles being feathers for the lady, call me babydoll, as i will never own one without it again, cuts mowing time by about 30 percent and i don,t have many obstickales.i got the r4 tire as they are a lot thicker and rugged than r1. yes the 4300 will have even more power but if you've been happy with the n then it (L3130) has more than plenty.
should be able to buy for arround:
13000 for 3130hst
700 r4 tires
3400 la513 loader with bucket and valve
4000 la723 loader with bucket and valve
good luck and enjoy
Chris

( and R4 (industrial) tires would probably add $700. )

can that be right? i have never seen an upgrade to R4 for that price, seems a bit high.
