Would love to hear what negative impressions you feel are justified.

Personaly, I'm finding its too heavy for many applications. They tried to keep it towable by a pickup, but its so borderline only a handful of combinations can do it legaly. I think they probably should have gone bigger, maybe base it off an M-series chasis. We also do need a cab for our market. Tires could be bigger. They are a bit late to market, it won't be long before other companies are filling this gap as well. Kubota was not the only company to see a need for a machine this size.

Don't get me wrong, they did a lot of right. Its a very strong machine, the new tranmission is a huge improvment over the L48. In operation, it feels like a hoss. Its 6-7k more expensive than the L48... but its a justified expense. The L39 has always been 95% of what the L48 was so it made sense to go this way. I don't see the issue with the price point thats been harped upon here. We do sell full size TLB's and this comes in alot cheaper. No doubt that you get more capacity for your dollar from a larger machine, but I don't think thats the point here. Your going to see this in many applications where a full size just does not make sense. Its a great fit for a large landscaping company, rental yard, etc.

Why don't you & I buy the rights to produce the old IR 300 or 500 or whatever it was called.:D We could freshen it up and I bet we could sell 4 or 5 of them right here on TBN! :D

Yeah,
The largest of the IR (500?) was a heck of an impressive rugged looking machine. Makes me want to drive one full bore into a pile of rocks. A lot of steel in that puppy!

There is no way the L39 is = to a L48, just look at the 2 side by side. Some may argue the spec.s are close, but the L39 is maxed out at that level. The tires are way too small fo a machine to be considered = to a L48 or any other full size TLB. Regarding cost, $6-7K more than a L48 is being generous. I paid $38 for my 1st L48, and my second was quoted at around $39.9. $55K is waaayyyyy out there, especially for only incremental value. By the way, M59 and L48 are not far apart: Same exact tires, only 6" more hoe, and only 400lbs. more lift at bucket mid point/ max lift with nominal lift height increase. I was very disappointed at the M59s lack of a pillow box frame like the L48, and especially where the 3pt. hitch arms attach to the tractor. The M59 uses large sections of wide metal similiar to a 3pt. hoe subframe to create a frame that extends from loader arms to rear diff., completely blocking normal maintenace areas. The L48/35/21 have a real frame which everything sits in, and the hitch arms attach to. On the M59, the arms do NOT attach to frame, rather a cast peice which makes up the rear diff. case. Imagine cracking that dragging a huge, loaded box scraper???? Big $$$ if broken. Oh, did anyone see the "optional" hood protector? Looks like a last minute after thought which negates any stylish intent. It looks plain silly. Nice machine, I do like the operator comfort, tranny, and a few other things, but overall, I feel the L48 is better value for the $. Get them while you can.

p.s. What is with the yellow "M59" stickers.

Drool!!

I would have loved to have purchased the M59 instead of my L5740, But Pricing looked like this-

M59=$54,992.00
L5740 W/ LA854 Loader, Woods BH90X with hydraulic thumb, third function valve, 2 remotes, top-n-tilt.=$37,540.00

The M59 is an animal, but not $18,000 more animal than my L5740 package. If it was 8k more i might have purchased it instead.

I'd be happy to sell you an M59 for 6-7k more than the L48. Seeing as I sell these things I think that I have a pretty good handle on what the cost difference is.

Messick, You may sell things, but I buy things too. I do appreciate the "other side of the table" view that you provide. How come we have such a price disparity??? I stated my purchase prices, and others have commented on their recent quotes. When you add on all of the stuff which is now optional to the M59 and was standard on L48 (street pads, lights, buckets....front and back, 3pt hitch, "hood protector"), there is no way your $45-6K price could be feasible, at least in the northeast US market where I live. Add on the "extras", thumb, remotes, and some whistles, is $55K+ the real drive home price?

Wouldn't the thumb hyd. lines with couplers run the breaker? That is the way my KX121 is plumbed.

I'd put money on this happening.

If an M59 were driven down a even moderate grade with 3000 Lbs load in the FEL with the bucket more than 2' off the ground and the smallish front tires ran into some soft ground, the M59 would roll over.

Scary why Kubota made the M59 a 8000 lb machine.

My tiny tired but ballasted 8200 Lb L39 may be a little slower running up a grade than when it was at 7000 lbs as delivered, but the pucker factor carrying a load is reduced about 75-80%.

For the $50K price of an M59, it should have 1000 Lbs of wheel weights as std.

All the things you listed where also "optional" on the L48. It was always possible to buy the machine without a bucket, they are configerable options. The only thing thats really now optional that was not before is the 3pt hitch kit... which is a good idea because half or more of the TLB's out there never end up using the 3pt.

All the pricing thats popping up in this thread has been full list price. I am not sure where its comming from, but we've been pricing M59's in the mid-high 40's for most configerations. If you start adding things like hydraulic thumbs and stuff then yea, totally decked out you might hit 55k... but thats the top end. Those are expensive options, its costs $2500 to put a thumb on an excavator, and the boom is already plumbed out there.
