smallish front tires ran into some soft ground, the M59 would roll over.

Scary why Kubota made the M59 a 8000 lb machine.

Take a look at a Case 580 / Deere 310 or any full size machine, the tires are about the same porportion as these machines are. They are intentialy kept low to the ground.

The weight was kept this way so a 10k truck can still haul the machine, like I said, I do agree that they should have ditched this constraint and built bigger and heavier. Everything is a trade off, if it was heavier then guys would be complaining that they can't tow it, its one of those things that you can't win.

I wonder what the relative price difference if between this monster and a Case 580K?

I really do not know that much about it but this Kubota looks like it may be a contender in that space?

A 580K, although discontinued 15+ years ago, is twice the machine in terms of ability. I used to run 580K's to dig house foundations and septic systems and an M-59 was not designed to do those jobs as quickly or efficiently.

Man am I ever outdated! What are they on now 580R or Z? :)

I saw a Cat with a hydraulic box blade last week-I honestly think it weighed 1500 to 200 pounds-it was no more then 60" wide!

Point is that some of the really serious construction, road making or large scale house/school building heavy equipment is in a different league. I went to school in Peoria at Bradley and should have paid more attention to the Cats that were designed there.

My three little Kubotas do fine for my applications and combined cost less then one of those monsters! I sure would love to mess around with one some time though!

Maybe I should go to the neighbor's sand box and play!!!:)

I would think it's reasonable to believe that a basic F-350 DRW truck can easily bumper pull an M-59 without a CDL.

Its a 3/4 ton pickup that they have in mind. Gotta remeber, a vast majority of the customers for this machine will be landscapers, rental yards and crazy home owners. People who need a big machine, but can't manage a full size for whatever reason.

3/4 ton would be pushing it on tongue weight.

I swear, I can't understand why 3/4 tons are even made anymore. They should just build 1/2 ton, 1 ton SRW and 1 ton DRW.

I've been thinking the exact same thing!

I really like 3/4 ton P/U's Or call it a heavy half.

Why?

Because 3/4 ton P/U can have the axles/ transmission/ differential the same as a SRW 1 ton with a nicer lightly loaded ride. Half tons wallow- 1 tons crack teeth. A 3/4 ton P/U that can be loaded to 3000 Lbs in a pinch yet has handling and a ride that will not cause pain, does not need 4.11 gears or a frame as rugged as a 1 ton is sweet because most of the time you can forget it is a HD P/U.

I have two 1/2 P/U's and most of the time they make me feel like the wimp I am. Prevously I had 3/4 and 1 tons.

Ok, I admitt 3/4 tons are not made for serious towing like a dualie, but they have a place like towing a medium sized travel trailer, boat, or CUT. So will a half ton get by, but tracking and braking are much better with a 3/4 ton.

The Tundra and other heavy halfs blur the line but I still like the bed load capacity of a 3/4 ton even if the tow ratings are similar.

I rather thought it was the 1/2 ton that has no real purpose. I can carry the groceries home in the back seat of my 25 mpg car.
