Kubota MX4700- Steering Locks Up when Loader Used

Oh, by the way... the steering on the 2wd and 4wd is the same.

4wd would not fix your problem.

You have a broken part, would be my guess.

We're keeping our fingers crossed. Received a call today, the Kubota rep said that they would esentially buy this tractor back, and sell us another (4WD) model of the same series, and we'd be paying the cost difference between the two (it's more than their original offer, but less than the last one)... the difference being the cost difference at this time we bought this tractor (as if we'd purchased the 4WD unit in the first place).

Awaiting paperwork to get the ball rolling....

EuropeanAM-- Been thinking of you & glad to hear there is some progress on this matter. Hopefully, it will be to your satisfaction and you will, once again, have the joy of a new unit that works. Regards, Mike

I have a MX4700 4WD with fel and I love it, but I don't understand why yours w/ 2wd don't work, did the rep. Explain that?

Thats horse poo, something is wrong with your orbital valve or elsewhere in the hydraulic system. The 2wd's work fine with a loader, well, as fine as a 2wd will work with loader.

I agree totally with slowzuki and similar. Call it BS horsepoo pacapoo whatever.

In AUS the warranty is irrelevant if the machine does not do the job it is designed to do. Take it back & demand refund or replace at customers choice.

I have exactly the same problem on my 4WD, although it is 25 years old.
I had my mechanic rebuild the steering box twice and and free up the spool valve. He is 1000% positive it is the power steering pump which is producing around 800psi at the steering box instead of ~1000psi and is shedding metal grit down the line into the spool valve. Steering sticks in one direction until turned full circle to the other side, then eventually frees up after machine is idle, just like EuropeanAM's.

My problem is finding a good used PS pump in AUS for a lot less than the $980 for a new one from Kubota.

UPDATE:

We are now in a 4WD model, brand new, with our FEL and accessories moved over to it.

Essentially, we received FULL credit back for the purchase price of the 2WD model we had problems with, and purchased the 4WD at the same price it would have been "from day one". No loss of any money we'd spent or paid (though the 4WD was obviously more expensive).

I will say that the dealer went WELL out of their way to get this "swap" done in a timely manner. They essentially picked up the old one and dropped off the fully-rigged 4WD the following day.

Have about 5 hours on the 4WD... and there's a REMARKABLE difference in the steering. Steers like the tires are on "butter" in comparison!

Though we will likely never know what was wrong with the 2WD model... it's simply not our problem now, and we're happy to be enjoying the use of this newer 4WD model, which is performing it's "intended purpose" quite nicely as of this time.

Glad to hear it had a good outcome. You certainly can't complain about that trade. Good deal.:thumbsup:

That is good news and I am glad you got it worked out. Sure wish I knew what was going on with the other tractor though.
