I m planning to have the bed of my RTV 500 sprayed with the "Rino Hardline" product.
Has anyone else had this done to their RTV? I think that it will be better than the standard bedliner that Kubota lists (trying to find a price on one).

I looked into a liner vs spray in liner from Ziebart last winter, the spray in was in the $225 range (almost like a truck) and a drop in genuine Kubota bed liner was in the $150 range, as I recall. We went with the drop in liner and has up very well (we were picking up rocks in the field after tilling).

I rolled on(painted) my own bedliner with a product called herculiner on my 2006 RTV 900.I sanded the bed by hand and put on 1 coat of the herculiner, waited about 4-6 hours and added another coat.Total cost around $80-$100 bucks.I have had rocks, wood and steel in the bed no issues yet.coobie

i had mine line-x'd and was thoroughly impressed with the process.

they "rough up" the bed before spraying the goop, and the whole process (3-4 hours) in the end made the price seem worthy.

do it once, and do it right!

oh, too, i got the 'bota drop in liner to boot -- it lets stuff slip out, whereas the line-x sticks its cargo.

I got a 'stall mat' at Agway, It is about a half inch of tire like rubber, cut to fit with a sharp utility knife and held it in with two toilet bolts in the front. Keeps tools from sliding around, quiets things down and really protects the bed. Haven't had any problems dumping the load and can remove the two bolts to take it out if needed.

just watch out for water getting trapped in there -- it'll rust the bed -- :(

Although they often can be considered slippery I like the bed liners over the spray in. They normally protect the box from being damaged when things are thrown into the box and you won't get that with a spray in or roll in type of protector. The bed liners I've not had mositure problems under even with open tops and boxes will look good often nearly new when removed. Try that with a coating!

I used 3 full Herculiner kits in the bed of the RTV900 I had and it still wasn't 1/4 as thick as the Rhino Liner I had sprayed in my other one. The Rhino Liner ended up actually being cheaper and oh so much thicker than even 3 full Herculiner kits I bought at Auto Zone. Obviously I want something thick.

If you look back in the threads, I'm also the guy who bought a factory Kubota drop in liner and removed it after a month. That's the RTV I put the 3 Herculiner kits in after removing the plastic drop in liner. That darn drop in liner rattled so bad I couldn't stand it. It's my opinion that a drop in liner provides the best protection against impacts, but it rattles so much and everything slides around. And, yes, after only a month in my RTV the drop in liner had worn the paint off a lot of the diamond plate ridges in the bottom of the RTV.

I have a Line-X liner in my RTV1100. I paid them to put it on extra thick but it's still only about half as thick as the standard Rhino Liner. I can't say that I've had any problems with the Line-X, but it definitely isn't as thick. It actually seems to be a harder compound than the Rhino Liner and the roll on Herculiner. Maybe that's why it isn't as thick. Still, for the price, I was pretty upset. They got out their little thickness gauge and "proved" to me that my Line-X was twice as thick as what the standard application is. Oh well... After having a drop in liner, 3 full kits of Herculiner, Rhino Liner and Line-X I'd have to say that the Rhino Liner would be my future choice.

I did the DIY home roll on kit that was 75-80 bucks. About 1/2 way thru, I realized that it would have been worth it to get it done professionally. Man that's a lot of effort and the end quality isn't as good as the pro stuff. Total savings was about $100.

It has held up well, it's just a PITA to do!

je5875, I had the Rino liner sprayed into my 900 about a year and a half ago. It is great! It's quiet, tough and trouble free. I have hauled rock, wood, barbed wire, steel and wood posts many hours over very rough roads with no damage. It also seems impervious to chemicals ( gas, oil, solvents, ect). To me it was a good investment of $200.

On my 900 I had Line-X done and it was awesome... and the other motivating factor for me was that Line-X has a nationwide warranty...
I traded it on a 1100 and used the herculiner others have mentioned here...
I have not been impressed at all with it.... and wish I would have just went with the Line-X again... while the Herculiner is OK... Line-X is a far more superior product in my opnion...
Good luck...with whatever way you choose to go...

I went to TSC and bought a pickup bedliner rolled up for less than $60. They are probably more expensive now. I liked the liner because it is 100% rubber, has ribs, and even has a cord in it to make it durable. Being soft rubber, nothing slips around on it.

I had enough left over after cutting my bed to do a cab floormat and also do one for my neighbor. I'd say my $60 was well spent.

I like the Idea of adding a rhino lining type coating AND adding a a full box liner. The liner is for rust protection as it cannot provide and structural strength. Yeah its over design but brings bed usage and protection up to where it should be on a 10K+ farm implement. Sound is way down too. Sorry but I think Kubota cheaped out on the original bed design and construction. Agian heres my "less than $100" homemade solution

Deerhide, fur side up! Now there's a great idea for bedliner material! Guaranteed not to scratch your cargo. Not only does it fit like a glove, it feels like a glove.
