Kubota utility tractor questions

I put 600 hours on an L3700 then traded up to the MX5100. The L3700 was a very good tractor and I had no issues with the 3 point hitch. I mowed my orchard with a 84" RFM with no problems. I traded because I needed a few more HP to run a 300 gallon airblast orchard sprayer. The MX5100 is fairly maneuverable when you take the fel off. Also the rear wheels have some adjustment but I'm not sure what the minimum width is. I just got the MX5100 and so far I am happy with it. The additional power comes with a cost. It seems to drink fuel much faster then the L3700. Although I liked the
R4 tires on the L3700, I went with the R1's on the MX5100 for max traction.

Sounds like the L4400 would be a good candidate. They can be had in a 2wd version which is a few thousand less than the 4wd. Probably looking at around 12-13K for a new 2wd L4400 with the base options. They aren't a real heavy tractor, but you can add 3 sets of wheel weights and several suitcase weights on the front to give them a little more mass.

And I wouldn't worry about working it too hard. I often run my little B3200 8+ hrs a day and no complaints thus far.

The overall width is a concern, 64" overall is tight, My L5030 is about 78" with R4's, you can suck it in to 72" or so, but to get 64" you need the narrower R1's.

I didn't catch the model number but my local dealer had a Kubota that was very narrow. It was a roughly the size of my B7800 but about a foot narrower. It was used so I don't know if that model is still available but might be worth a look.

Who do you deal with up there? I'm only familiar with Lakeland JD out that way.

Kubota has made their narrow models a long time - you might be able to find one used (tractorhouse, ebay, craigslist). I remember looking at an L4150DTN once that was really narrow with 50 hp and 3,000 lb 3-point hitch.

I deal with Bentley Bros. in Albion and Brockport. I saw the tractor at the Brockport store. I think Buffalo Tractor is also a dealer, and also Lamb & Webster.

I know there are used narrow tractors out there and there are a lot of used Ford/New Holland and John Deere narrows around here. Kubota hasn't been much of a player in this market around here. They have been so limited in this area that I only recall ever seeing one M8200 narrow used locally and now there are a few M8540 narrows in the vineyards. A narrow vineyard tractor without cab but in decent shape with 3000+ hours will cost $8k on up. Add a cab and your looking at $18k+. Add FWA and its in the low to mid $20k.

I am planning on buying a M8540 narrow with FWA and cab over the winter and it will be the primary spray tractor. This utility tractor will be used in the vineyard and most likely also get used running a rake or tedder when its not needed in the vineyard. I would love to buy a couple narrow tractors but I don't need a second one yet and I am not happy with the price of used tractors. There is so much unknown and these are tractors I need to be reliable and in the field, not the garage. So I do look at the used tractors locally but I won't travel very far to look at one unless its an amazing deal on a very low hour tractor. But so far I have not been impressed by what I have seen the past 15 months or so. I did find a nice used M8200 narrow with FWA, cab and loader but it sold before I could get back there.

Thanks, I will see if I can find it online. Brockport is about 90 minutes away from me.

I travel to Barcelona Harbor on summer weekends which is exactly 2hrs from me. Great area there...especially if you love snow!
