Kubota L3400
My new chains seemed a bit close to the frame of the rear inside R4 tires on the 3400 so I bit the bullet and ordered a Kubota wheel spacer "kit" from the dealer at $180 - not cheap.

The spacers are only going to give me 1" extra clearance but that should be enough and they seem well made....Only the "kit" contained just the spacers. No bolts to replace the existing ones! The two wheel lugs currently only have 1/2" to spare from the wheel nuts and it seems logical that the bolts will need to be 1" longer also.
Before I remove my ballasted rear wheels which wont be fun:

Anybody installed one of these "kits"? Any problems? Did your "kit" come with longer bolts? Any ideas besides cursing Kubota?

I'm not sure on your specific model, but most of the rear R4 wheels are adjustable for width. My prior tractor, an L3710, with the wheels on the widest setting had a good 3-4" clearance to the inner fender. My current L5740, with the wheels in the middle setting, has 2 3/4" clearance. I moved them out from the narrowest setting, which had about 2" clearance. I could gain another 1 3/4" clearance on each side if needed. I believe they come from the factory set at the narrowest possible setting. You might want to look into this first, if you haven't already. Your manual should explain the different offsets.

I'm surprised that the spacers were only one inch!

I thought ALL Kubota spacers added 1.5" per side, for a total increase in rear track width of 3". Is this not true--anybody?

At $300. per "kit," I'm not thrilled to hear about a LACK OF NEW, LONGER BOLTS. :confused2:

Good luck, save your receipt, and maybe inspect those spacers more closely, to see if they really ARE Kubota-brand pieces.

Can anyone verify, for the OP (and me!) if there's a mfr. mark on the genuine Kubota spacers, and what their ACTUAL WIDTHS are?

And if they came with longer BOLTS? Sheesh!

Thanks,

My Hoe

I don't know anything about the kits or bolts, but I can confirm that there is no adjustment on the L3400 with R4 wheels/tires, and that it is a bit close for chains. I have decided to go the grooving/sipeing route and have the tool, now just got to get the time/guts to actually do it.

Thanks for the feedback. The R4s on this guy just dont adjust.

The dealer gave me the spacers in a sealed box with Kubota all over it and the return address was Kubota so I'm pretty sure they are genuine. They look well machine stainless steel. I may get more than 1" when mounted but I dont see how since the main spacer part is only 1".

The dealer cant figure out either how it will mount without new bolts. He is going to call Kubota next week. Maybe somebody just forgot to pack the hardware.....maybe I'll ask for a discount.

I ordered my new L3800 with R4s and spacers for future chains. The spaces add about 1.5" on each side and longer lug nuts are required. I was provided with the original lugs in case I ever want to take the spacers off?!? This option was about $350 installed.

Thanks Sadie72. That pretty much answers the question. It sure looks like they short changed me on the parts.

For anybody interested:

Kubota fianlly got back to the dealer. Apparently they forgot to tell him that there is a "kit" for the "kit". This kit has 12 studs and nuts to mount the first kit. It is the only recommended way of mounting the wheel spacer "kit" and they dont suggest do it yourself bolts. Oh, and it is $70 on top of what I already paid....and an additional charge for shipping.
Sheezze! Talk about corporate greed. I'm camping out at Kubota HQ!
