I sure hope they dont bring any of those left-wing thinking (& voting) people with them. Those of us born and raised here do NOT think like those blue states. Not even close.

Although I wasn't born in TX, I agree with you completely. I moved to TX 25 years ago because I agreed with the politics, values and way of life. I didn't move here to make it like the state I came from, I came here to embrace and promote the Texas that attracted me.

The other day I saw an interview with a retired lawman that was promoting legalizing pot in Texas. Turned out he was originally from California and he retired to the TX hill country. I wanted to yell into the TV to tell him to pack up and go back to California to be with like minded folks. Leave Texas alone, we've built a great state that promotes independence, less government and personal responsibility. Sorry that model has worked so well it attracts those that have deprived their birth states of the same.

I'll use the analogy of someone walking into a room full of smokers and then telling them all to stop because you can't stand smoke. How about not walking into the room in the first place and everyone will be happy.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not flaming folks from CA, just using an example that if you don't agree with a certain crowd, don't hang out with that crowd.

Let's give credit where credit is due. Nearby Colorado started the blanket legalization of pot. California has not. Yet anyway.

Kubota gets corporate welfare I.e. Tax breaks to move to Texas. It's typical of all states so I am not singling out Texas but are they really increasing tax revenue by moving jobs there or is it creating political gain? The U.S. Airlines are blasting the UAE for giving incentives for UAE based air carriers. Boeing has always been after Europe, backed in their fight, for Europe giving incentives to Airbus. I shouldn't really complain because I have a nice chunk of Boeing stock and am grateful for all the government money Uncle Sam gives Boeing. In all of these shenanigans somebody has to pay. Boeing helped out my net worth by playing the game of relocating production when they introduce the 777X. Huge sums of money offered when it was only Boeing's ploy to get concessions from the machinists union. After the South Carolina fiasco the last thing Boeing wants to do is move away from Washington state. Texas gets an extremely high payback in federal tax dollars - meaning they are returned much more than $1 for every $1 of tax revenue taken in so they can afford to give tax breaks. Now if only we can get Texas to secede from the union so those tax dollars can be distributed to the rest of us.

Very true... the trouble makers don't get out of bed before noon... how can they when they have been out all night.

When I sold my Dozer... had a couple of conversations with the buyer over the phone... it was a 4 hour trip for him to come and see it... he told me he almost turned around when he got to the bottom of the freeway off ramp... then he decided to go a little further thinking this could be a set up... anyway... I am exactly 1 mile from the off ramp and as he kept driving, he started to think OK... it is starting to improve and when he reached the house he felt comfortable getting out of the car... neat homes with green lawns and such..

I really have the best neighbors and always have... some are real sociable... others keep to themselves... if there is a problem or something suspicious we are all on the same page... we had a neighborhood meeting when the last home was broken into... one of the neighbors is retired old school AT&T and said he could put up street cams for materials... within the hour... every person on the street had put $100 into the hat... and a week later a concrete 12' high custom steel pole with two camera's was at the corner of my property plus another one perfect height to get driver and license plates coming and going...

As an aside... not sure what he would do today... the lawns are all going brown... we are on mandatory rationing and have been asked to limit daily consumption to 35 gpd per person per household.

Does Texas have any metro areas with dangerous reputations?

Let's see, we have West Dallas, South Dallas, East Dallas, Oak Cliff, a good bit of Houston, and San Antonio.
I'm sure I've left a few off, but these are the ones I've witnessed first hand.

1. You want less government - except when it comes to enforcing laws against pot?
2. He's a transplant, you're a transplant.

Texas is about in the middle when it comes to tax dollars, getting back about $1.50 for each dollar they put in. South Carolina gets $7.87, Delaware about 50 cents.

In reverse order, DE, MN, IL, NE, OH, KA, NY, CO, UT, NJ, OK, WY, MA AND CA all give. : 14 states. The rest take.

This excludes military spending, with largest bases now in the sunbelt. Hope we never have to fight Russia....
