I'm putting a pad in for a carport or small building to house my yet to be purchase L3540. I need to determine dimensions. Can someone tell me the total length of an L3540 (or any L for that matter; I can look up the other tractor lengths) WITH the FEL and a rear blade attached?

If anyone keeps their L inside, any suggestions for building depth would be appreciated.

The way my L3240 fits on a 16' trailer, you should figure on 19' for a starting point. Longer if you want to have room at both ends to walk around.

My L3240 with LA724 FEL and BH90 is just longer than 20' with everything tucked up tight. It barely fits in one of our 10x20 construction tents (i.e. it actually touches the end flaps if they are down). So there is NO room to walk around either end inside the tent unless I swing the BH to one side.

FWIW I had orignally planned our new 3 bay garage to be 20' deep but have changed the plans to 24' to fit the L3240 comfortably even with the BH detached.

Bill, I have a L5240 Cab. The height of a cab model is lower than ROP's models. My Cab is 94" tall. With my rear blade and FEL I need 20'. With FEL and 6' RFM I need 24'.
Also remember if you get R1's they are taller, I have R4's.

I put my l4330 with BH and FEL into a 20' deep garage, but have to put the hoe all the way to one side, a real pain in the *** to go in and out of the door. Go bigger!!!! If my garage wasn't already built I would go at least 24', but proabably 26' You can never have shop space.

It's nice to have a double-width space - say 20' wide x 24' deep - then there's room for the other 3ph implements you'll accumulate. I'm thinking about building something 24' deep and 40' wide to hold all the mowers, snowblowers, backhoe, trailer, loader when removed, etc. etc. - it will be full.

Thanks to everyone for their input on this, it really helps. I'm probably going to get a stock Clearspan or aluminum port, and I think 20 feet deep is the standard size. Looks like that will work; I'm most concerned about keeping rain/snow off the major part of the tractor. If the FEL sticks out a little, so be it. I'd go bigger but I'm having to bring in tons of fill to create the pad, so just to get 20 and leave room to turn around etc I'm already at 30 feet plus of 6 feet deep of fill...

You have the right answer...

My L5030 plus FEL plus shredder only fits on my 18 ft trailer when Ilift the FEL up high... so, 20 feet is clearly, IMHO, the minimum... may not even be able to walk around the ends if it were in a building with closed ends.

However, you have other considerations... I urge you to go at least 20 feet... any more will be enjoyed in the future after you have forgotten how much dirt you had to move:D

I measured an L5740 with loader. From the tip of the bucket to the end of the lift arms was 15'. I also measured a woods 720 mower and it's 9' from the hitch pins to the end of the tail wheel. Put together, that 24'. It adds up quickly.

I'm planning a barn/shop and am planning the bays to be 24' deep. I don't plan to have the tractor and mower in there as a single unit, but I want enough space around the machine to move about, and I want to have a backhoe on with space to spare.

Texasjohn

I see you have a shredder on that trailer.

I am thinking of getting a woodchipper for a L3940 or a L4240(I haven't decided yet$) What brand and size would you recomend for those machines?
