L2800 front end fluid change

Changed the fluid in the front end of my L2800 HST this past weekend. It was supposed to take 4.8 quarts (if I remember correctly). I could only pour in about 2 quarts before it started coming out the check hole. I did not measure what had drained out (the old fluid) until afterwards and it was only about 2 quarts.
I had let the fluid drain for about an hour (it was slowly dripping out) so I figured it was empty when I started to refill.

So, I guess I only got about 1/2 of the fluid out, but I don't know where the rest was?

It takes a while for the new fluid to settle.

I'd check it again.

wait-- aren't you supposed to shake the container to get it all out?

err. oh this was way the oil can..

I had the same issue.. Someone else on here stated that not all of it comes out...
and I remember another post that someone said to use one of those oil pumps..-- I did not think that was a good idea....

I thought you could raise the front tires off the ground with the FEL and tilt the axle to one side to get more out... It's been to long ago when I did it... (many, many beers ago).

I did let it sit for two days. The level had not changed. So basically, I drained 1/2 gallon out and put 1/2 gallon back in. I'm assuming that I diluted whatever old fluid remained - so I'm not going to worry about it.

I got 4 quarts into mine after I drained it, Kuboto used gear oil judging by the time it took to drain it. Using both drain plugs you should be able to drain more than 2 quarts.
