Re: L30 series, Maximum Utmost!
Mark, Dick, I now have 14 hours on my
L3830 HST. I get more enthutiastic about it as I put the hours on. It impresses me enough that I emailed a fellow at TractorSmart thanking him for his help and advice to several of my questions telling him that the new L30 series, at least the
L3830 is really the nicest tractor(s) out there. He emailed me back this morning telling my opinion was much appreciated and that my reaction is very much the feedback he's been getting as well.
While the engine is the 3 cylinder version of my
L48, it has all the power I need. One thing I have found is that it does a much better job in High range then the
L48. It will actually go up my driveway while the
L48 labored. The
L48 granted weighed about 3000lbs more with the tires filled. No question the loader is not as strong, but I don't miss it. Using bucket curl allows one to use a weaker loader as though it has more power then it really does. That is I will lift, curl, and then lift/extend and finally curl again when I need to pick up loads the loader lift cylinders can't. The loader is much faster, it's so fast at around 2300RPM that I often have to feather the control to slow it down for precise bucket positioning. I really like the speed. The range shifter is a straight line low, medium and high. Rarely does it need the hydro pedal to help change ranges. The hydro pedal design is great, bigger and even smoother. I am now down to less then a minute taking the loader off and about 2 minutes putting it on. It is so slick and easy, I'd rather do that then change a rear implement anyday. The 3 pt hitch is so smooth with the external hydraulics now, it works great and the arms etc., have more beef then the previous models. I look so forward to using it, yesterday I brought my Sawzall to my neighbor using the tractor, carrying my little 23 month old who is happiest on my lap on the tractor. The tractor is very quiet, I worry far less about him and his hearing. I can actually talk to him while were on it. Anyway, my neighbor was tearing out his deck and needed to get rid of a old spa sitting on it. I could not get the tractor in his fenced yard since all he had was a man gate. We pushed the spa off the deck. muscled it to the gate, but could not lift it up to get it through the gate. Wrapped a chain on it and stood it up with the
L3830, pulled it out, and then chained it to the bucket. The front teeth dug into the siding of the spa, I curled and the entire spa came off the ground. I raised the loader arms and the spa was about 5 feet in the air, just enough to clear some obstacles and out to the trash pile it went. Its a blast using this tractor, much more then I imagined. My next big test is to start using my boxblade. The rippers will be the big test and will determine the need for ballast in the rears. Rat...
