Hiyas,

My archery club owns an L3301 (2016 I believe) and a few weeks ago an embankment collapsed under the tractor and it rolled on it's side while running. Repair estimate from the Kubota dealer was nearly as much as buying a new tractor as they indicated it needs a new engine, new steering column, plus labor.

That being the case, we bought a new L3301 on Monday because one of the other local dealers made us an offer we couldn't refuse and frankly, we really like the dealer and the whole experience was great (as a side note)

They also mentioned they might be interested in purchasing the older tractor, and we have a club member, and friend of a club member who is also interested.

Tractor only had 185 hours on, loader is fine, tires.wheels, pretty much everything other than a dent in the left rear fender, the engine and the steering column.

My question is, what is a reasonable price for that as it sits? I did confirm the engine isn't seized.

Is it gear or HST? What type of tires? Pin on bucket or quick-attach? These all figure into the price quite significantly.

I would have swapped the loader from old to new, plus tires and wheels too. Those are all separate options on a new tractor and no need to duplicate in a situation like this if you already owned that stuff.

If the loader is in good shape, it's worth probably $3200-3500 all by itself. More if it has quick-attach.

HST, current tires are r4 but we're going to swap them for the turf tires/wheels. The loader is quick attach. Tractor super light use only 185 hours so the loader is in great shape.

I would say work backwards. What would it cost to rebuild the engine or replace with a salvage engine? Subtract that from $14k.

I would be hesitant to just arbitrarily say it needed an engine from tipping onto its side unless allowed to just sit there and run for an extended period.
That engine is pretty tough.

I would find out what dealer offers and then allow club members to match that price.

I thought R4 were the turf tires? Did you mean swap them for the Ag (R1) tires?

The tractor that got totaled has the r4 tires. The tractor we just bought has ag tires we're going to swap the ags to the old tractor and put the r4 on the new tractor.

:cool2: :drink:  Thanks...

So was the ROPS folded down when it happened?? I would have thought the steering column should have been protected....

How's the driver? Tractor doesn't look too bad. I guess the loader was also off the tractor at time of the accident (?).

Rops was not up like it should have been, loader was on but it's fine. Fellow who is driving it got out of there with some bruises

Aside from the steering wheel I only see a few minor cosmetic issues. It doesn't run but does turn over? Did the dealer say why they thought the engine was trashed? Bend a rod or something due to hydro locking while running during the rollover then drained the cylinder afterwards so it will turn over?

There is the obvious issue of the ROPS not being up. Quite a bit more relevant given it's only real purpose is to protect you in a rollover, which just happened.

I thought R4 were the turf tires? Did you mean swap them for the Ag (R1) tires?

No, they are two altogether different treads. R4 is what you see on a commercial loader; more robust, and with cleated treads although not as aggressive as found on an R1. While I believe that a turf tire will fit on the same rim as an R4 they are a lot less aggressive for less damage on surfaces such as turf. The tread is more diamond shaped and has no defined cleats. It's what you typically see on riding lawn mowers including the rears found on zero turns.

To the OP; that's got to suck, but at least nobody was hurt. As a TBN member's signature states, a serious accident is one which money can't fix.
I hope that the driver gets some training before he gets on the tractor again.

What makes you think engine is bad? Did it run a long time will upside down?

It ran for a couple minutes and then stalled out. I don't necessarily think it's bad, but the dealer indicated that it would have to be replaced/rebuilt and frankly, nobody at the club has the time or the where-withal to do it. There are a couple of us who could likely do it, but again, don't have the time.

Wouldn't it be something if it just got air in the fuel?

Well I hope that's all it is but I don't think so. One of our club members bought it for 5K. Here's hoping he got a **** of a good tractor for **** of a good price .
