I had the opportunity to rent and drive a L35 TLB yesterday. It was my first time trying to use a backhoe. After about an hour and some coaching from a pro, I was able to make some reasonable trenches for septic lines. I can think of all kinds of uses for a backhoe like that/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

This unit had a shuttle shift. I can 100% say, I really really really like the HST on my little B8200 a LOT better!

It was fun, cause I had the opportunity to use the L35, and a Deere 210; the Deere is a good sized tractor! It was the largest I've ever used.

Hey Robert, so your putting in your own leach field? How does your soil perk over there in El Dorado? I recently bought the Kubota L48. I have not used the JD 210, a great industrial tractor but have used a comparable industrials and love the beefyness they put in. Good luck with the leach field. I will be needing to rent a hoe as I did not get the hoe for my L48. I will most likely get a track hoe which are absolutely incredible for digging trenches since they require no stabilizes, no particular direction from which they dig and can take on some of the steepest terrain you can through at them. Thats going to be important to me, Rat...

Rat - I agree track trenching is great - I put my utilities underground for about 450' - used a nifty little Kobelco excavator. On the lawn it went BETWEEN the shrubs without scaring 'em - there's nothing like it.

Rat,
We were working at my parents in Orangevale. Boy, that 210 sunk pretty good in the field behind the house where I had to maove the gravel too! That's a big heavy tractor! We got out pretty well though, with only ruts, no swampy mucky messes.

We had a Case 580 Super-L in the day before doing the majority of the hoe work. I didn't get to drive it/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif It got a workout getting the 210 out of the mud, in addition to digging.

This L35 is the only digger I have ever tried first hand, so I do not have anything to compare it with. I sure could find some uses for it though. Just wish it was hst like my little 'bota.
