L3901 Rear Wheel Adjustment-No Spacers Needed!!

CaCl should never be added to tires without tubes.

SDT

Very true. My family has a Massey Harris Pacer that had CaCl in the tires with no tubes for MANY years. Eventually it rusted the rims all the way through and forced replacement. Even if you don't let the problem go that far imagine what is happening in side the wheel and how simple it is to avoid it. Of course nowadays there is some non-corrosive goo they load tires with.

Awesome. I copied your #32 post with pictures.

I still don't understand how turning the outer ring gives wider spacing but since my rear wheels have fluid in them I probably will just take it into the dealer to have them do it.

I'm late to the party again, but here are pictures of my rears which are at the widest I can put them. I believe that it's 24mm. I strongly suggest that you use an impact wrench socket even if you use hand tools; as somebody else mentioned they are on quite tightly, and regular sockets tend to split.
Don't ask me how I know that.

I too live on 8 acres of which 7.9 of it is on hills. After moving my R1s out and weighting the rears by filling, I scored a set of Motorsports-tech and 3" wide each side spacers from another member who was going even wider on his.
That was the single best thing I ever done. The tractor feels planted on side slopes to the point of sliding downhill rather than feeling tippy any more.

3" is larger than the recommended 2" by Kubota but I wouldn't go back. If I ever have to use the powertrain warranty, (haven't so far, Mine is a 2015 L3301 and not abused) I'll remove them or argue the fact if I need to then.

Again, best thing I ever done. With these and 600 lb counterweigh hanging below the rear axle centerline, this tractor feels like a completely different animal.
Still happy with your spacers? Any problems?

Hi, new to the forum and just bought a L3901. I am down in Lyme Ct, very hilly property with lots of rock so I understand the OP when he says that the tractor feels unsettled when on a hill and goes over a rock. In the manual it is clear only the R1 tires are adjustable. Unfortunately R1's will not work for me since I need to drive across the lawn with firewood on a regular basis. Anyway what brand spacers did you go with? I see Borla advertised on Ebay for $325 for 3". I would like at least 3", the hill I plan to flail mow is 35 degree. I am sure I will have to hand trim some of it, I will just tear up the hill trying to use the tractor. Love having KTAC, figure if I survive a roll over at least I won't have to pay for the tractor too. Either way I just want to avoid that scenario as best as possible.
Did you install the 3" spacers? Any problems? Thanks.

I just answered in another thread but yes absolutely is the short version. Best thing I ever did for stability on side slopes.
