L3901 Rear Wheel Adjustment-No Spacers Needed!!

The reason your dealer said that you could not adjust them is that you can not adjust the R1 (Industrial) tires. Looking at the pictures you posted, you have the R4 (Ag) tires. The R4 tires have an adjustable rim. Just FYI.

Forget what I just said. I had a very "stupid" moment. The R1 are AG and have the adjustable rim. You were right and I got confused. Perhaps you dealer did to. Sorry for the confusion and hopefully this will not "hijack" your thread with people explaining to me the difference between R1 and R4.

No problem at all!;) Been known to have a few of those myself.

Once all was said and done, I reached out to the dealer as a courtesy (as noted, I like them:thumbsup:) to let him know about the misinformation. My hope was that I might save a future customer from having to widen his AG tires post purchase when it is much easier to have it done during dealer prep. Being that they sell way more tractors with R4 Industrial tires at this particular dealer, he was giving me the information on those tires. He was appreciative of the heads up.

Pic of my L3901 with 3" spacers....

Hi, new to the forum and just bought a L3901. I am down in Lyme Ct, very hilly property with lots of rock so I understand the OP when he says that the tractor feels unsettled when on a hill and goes over a rock. In the manual it is clear only the R1 tires are adjustable. Unfortunately R1's will not work for me since I need to drive across the lawn with firewood on a regular basis. Anyway what brand spacers did you go with? I see Borla advertised on Ebay for $325 for 3". I would like at least 3", the hill I plan to flail mow is 35 degree. I am sure I will have to hand trim some of it, I will just tear up the hill trying to use the tractor. Love having KTAC, figure if I survive a roll over at least I won't have to pay for the tractor too. Either way I just want to avoid that scenario as best as possible.

Bro Tec tractor wheel spacers, produced in Canada, are works of industrial art.

Welcome to TBN :welcome: and congrats on your new tractor! Even with spacers; go slow, use the seat belt, and listen to the "pucker factor" when she comes calling.

Guys, move those rears out, if you can. Our old L3130, with R-4's, was easy- just reverse the center hub's position. Our L3400 has one piece wheels, so spacers were required. But, the end result, as everyone has stated, is all good. For snow plowing, the wider rear gives more resistance to plow push, better ride, just overall a better sense of stability. Filling rear tires is usually a great idea, as well. Just don't let them put calcium chloride in!
Calcium chloride is what is recommended in the owners manual, why shouldn't this be used?

I too live on 8 acres of which 7.9 of it is on hills. After moving my R1s out and weighting the rears by filling, I scored a set of Motorsports-tech and 3" wide each side spacers from another member who was going even wider on his.
That was the single best thing I ever done. The tractor feels planted on side slopes to the point of sliding downhill rather than feeling tippy any more.

3" is larger than the recommended 2" by Kubota but I wouldn't go back. If I ever have to use the powertrain warranty, (haven't so far, Mine is a 2015 L3301 and not abused) I'll remove them or argue the fact if I need to then.

Again, best thing I ever done. With these and 600 lb counterweigh hanging below the rear axle centerline, this tractor feels like a completely different animal.

Calcium chloride will rot your wheels. I put windwasher fluid in mine and while it's not as heavy as beat juice or some of the other ballasts for tires it's a whole lot cheaper (.60 cents a gallon for fluid that's rated for -20 degrees from Lowes last year)

I bought my 3" Bora wheel spacers from Motorsports Tech. Haven't had any problems with them at all.. if your gonna put ballast in your tires and spacers on the tractor I'd recommend putting the spacers on 1st. That way you don't have to wrestle with a 300 pound tire. :)

What he said regarding calcium chloride. My first tractor had it and noticed the rot starting. Had them put Rimguard in my new tractor at the dealership.
