For the past 18 years I have used B model (current B2910) with FEL and 60" MMM to mow 8 acres (4 farm lawn and 4 field) and move snow here in the NE.I have looked at the B3030 cab, but really like the L3940 because of the comfort of the larger tractor and cab. The L3940 is the max L series that you can get the MMM 72". If I take the Fel off as I do now, do you think I will have problems with the size and weight using turf tires for the mowing? I am also spoiled by the power to weight ratio of the 2910 and can mow in high range. Will I need to mow in mid range with the L3940? Thanks

I have a 3240 with loaded R4's, cleared some ice from my basement Bilco door with the FEL and while squeezing past my septic tank made some nice ruts (note to self: ground does not freeze fast over septic lateral). The grand L's are super nice but, IMO, not ideally suited to mowing. The R4's measure 70" outside to outside, turfs even wider....

I guess it all depends on what you are mowing. I finish mow 5 acres with my GL3430 CAB tractor with R4 tires and never leave a rut (tires not filled). I think I have the ideal set-up for mowing even better than the b3030 cab because the ride is much more comfortable (less jaring,) over rough surface. I too was looking at getting a b3030 cab but decided against it mostly due to wanting a more stable larger framed tractor with larder tires (easier on the seat).

If I had a yard that stayed wet most of the time (wet weather springs, poor drainage etc.) then yea it probably make a few tracks but for average dry grass my tractor mows no problem. I even mow the church lawn with it and have never had anyone complain from church about the yard looking rutty.

I'm very picky about the way my yard looks as well as the church yard and I don't even feel the need for turfs or I would buy them If I thought it would make a difference.

Go for the 3940HSTC and you will never regret it! I can type all day on how great the cab is, moreover I will never own a tractor again without the cab.
