I have an outside chimney and flue (sp). Just a hole cut in the brick and block for the stove pipe.

If you want a pic of it let me know.

Did you take any pictures of the flue? I'm curious to see how they did it and what materials they used. Are you putting in an insert? Is it wood burning?

Thanks,
Eddie

WOW, but one question how do you get that sander up to do the ceiling?

Toad,

I was a power lifter in college and several years after. My 3 lift total in college was 1,420lb at a competition weight of 175 lbs. And 23 years later I still work-out 5 times a week though don't go as heavy and I now weigh 225 lbs.

So naturally lifting that little old sander to the ceiling was not a problem...I hired it done:D :D .

Jonathan/Michael

Thanks!!

Eddie,

I attached a pic showing the outside chimney. I will try to get a pic of inside the basement and post later this week. They basically just cut a hole in the block and put a flue pipe into the chimney. That is a common practice in this part of the country.

I am putting a wood furnace in the basement and ducting it into my heat system with electric dampers. The wood furnace is almost ready to be hook up. I'll get some pics of it also.

Dave - I noticed no vents at the top sides for venting attic area or a ridge vent on roof peak. Wasn't it necessary to vent these areas?

Just being inquisitive.

By the way your palace is just beautiful inside and out.

(Meant to type place but palace seems better choice of words. :) )

PAGUY,

We have ridge vents on roof, dormers, and back deck/porch. Just not able to see them very well in the pictures. Other venting is in the soffits; if that is what you call them.

Thanks for the kind words.

Man that is looking great David.
I just got back to your thread and the improvements are outstanding. I'll be gone for another week again, so I'm lagging.

Rob,
I just looked at your updates and there is nothing lagging about your place:D .

We were able to start the outside steps to the screened in porch/deck.

I had some grading work on the driveway Friday. Since the guy was there with Trackloader, roadscraper, and skidsteer I ahd him move some of the dirt pile around. I don't have any picture of the machines because I forgot the camera:eek: , but I do have the after pics.

1st pick is a before.

2nd pic is a "after" form about the same view.

3rd pic is where we took out five more trees and filled a low area for a future work shop. The skid steer with a 4n1 buckrt made short work of moving brush and stumps...I need me one of those...BAD!

David -

Your place is looking great... I know you must be anxious to move in. The pictures remind me very much of my ex inlaw's home in Hendersonville, and of course I know your area is much the same.

I hope to be starting a thread on my new house build this week... I already have some of the clearing and grading pics that started back in November. I hope my project goes as well as your has!
