mjncad,

I have had one of the contractors lights go out, he has the same kind as we do. Mine have done great, no burn outs.

Are you putting the bulbs in with gloves or a small tissue/cloth? Oils from you bare hand will cause them to burn out.

Yep, I used a cloth to keep skin oils off the bulbs, so I figure it was crummy manufacturing that caused them to punk out so soon.

Here is a pic showing part of the driveway that was graded last week. We had some rain lastnight and snow this afternoon. I went out to check how the drainage. It looked good, the ditch kept the water off the road; I think its going to hold up great until we can get it surfaced in a couple months.

1st pic part of the driveway.

2nd pic me doing some tractor work at the back of the house.
Hi David,
The drive looks good. Did you do all that with your tractor?
Those ditches or gutters work wonders in channeling most of the water off the drive. They made a huge difference on my dirt roads once I cut them in.
What kind of surface are you talking about then? The surface layer you put on already would be an improvement to my roads!:)

Rob,

I don't have TnT on my tractor and could not get enough tilt on the boxblade. Grader brought in a roadscraper and trackloader for the drive charged $800.00 plus gravel.

As far as the surface I think we will go with asphalt. It will be March before the plants open so I should have that done soon.

Just a short update:

We passed final inspection last Friday 2/22. :D

Retaining walls in the back are currently 4' high. If we had went higher it would have required a engineer to come out and charge $250.00. :( So now that final is complete we will go up 2 more feet.:)

Final coat of poly is scheduled for this Wednesday.

Kitchen appliances are in.

I have completed all the painting except for a few interior doors and final touch-up.

If poly is set-up good could possibly start moving in this weekend but will most likely finish up the paint touch-up and clean everything real good.

I have a few pics but not had time to load. Should be posting some soon.

David,

Congratulations!!!!! You did an awesome job and I enjoyed following along with your progress and updates. Thank you.

If you can, it would be nice to update the thread with a few pics of it decorated and landscaped. Then maybe down the road if you find something that you don't like or are disapointed in. It's always nice for us to learn from what others have done first hand.

David,
Passing your final is great!
Congratulations on your terrific accomplishment. What a beautiful home you have now. It will remain in my favorites forever. What about your road and drive, any more updates on those? Hey, did you see how much Michael is spending on his place, it's coming along too?
Sheesh, I'm lagging behind both of you because of the rains, my dirt roads are toast.
