Michael, Rob, mjncad, Jonathan, Eddie:

Thanks for the kind words. One thing about passing final is we should be able to move in 3/7-8/08. And the good thing about that is I will be closer to the work I need to do:D .

This thread is nowhere near being completed as I have not even started on the landscaping. I'll be sure and post pics as things change or are added. I'll also post some once we have the furniture in. I also want to do some before and after pictures sohwing the progression of the different rooms and the outside of the house.

We were able to increase the height of the retaining wall yesterday and my floor guy should be there today putting the final coat of poly on the hardwoods. I'll do a little touch-up paint this weekend and clean everything good if the floors have "set-up" good.

I plan on taking a couple of days off next week to move the essentials. Then will take our time moving the rest of the stuff.

Should be have the drive surfaced in a month or less and will have pics of that. Plus I'll get some of the retaining wall this weekend and post.

Good morning David,

How's the move going? Since we haven't seen updates you must be busy setting up the new homestead. :)

I don't think anyone ever asked this but how deep are those floor trusses? I see them spanning 36' without a center beam under there. Do you happen to know the deflection on them (L/360?). How do the floors feel? Solid? Springy?

I am working on the final design of our house here in MI and I have a 32' span I need to cross and plan on using open web trusses as well.

MAN...its amazing how much junk you can accumulate in 22 years!! I have found tools I forgot I had:( . And still have a weeks worth of moving to do!!

Been off line a while trying to get things under control with the move. Very busy at work so have not had time to log-on much and internet was down at home until we received our phone service. And I still don't have hig speed internet at home:mad: , it stops one mile from my house. We are checking on going with our cell phone company for internet service.

But enough of that on with the move and updates. Most of the furniture is in and we have been living at the new house since March 8th. It has been very busy with all the stuff I have to move. I have been parking my company car at the old house after work and getting a couple of truck loads moved and then parking the truck at the old house in the mornings and jumping in the car and heading to work. Rain has put a hold on moving some items and
I have been out of town a couple of nights the past week.

To top it off I pulled some tendons in my right arm this weekend. It is actually an old injury from last year that I have now re-injured worse than before so moving now has become harder to do with one good arm! But over all things are progressing good.

I do have some pictures to load of retaining walls, and furnished rooms. Hopefully things will slow down a little and I can get them loaded.

I will be getting 4 loads of top soil this week. My dirt has just toooooo many rocks to deal with. And will also have the driveway topped with asphalt late next week; 450' + of drive and a 30' x 40-50' pad.$$:( . I 'll try to get some action photos of the process.

spryde,

I don't know the deflection on the trusses but the floor is very solid. I 'll try to get a true measurement on the trusses but it seems they are around 36'' or more tall and spaced 16" on center.

David, hang in there. You'll have your "normal" life back soon and then all this mess will be a memory.

I, too, knew you were busy. You won't loose your subscribers! ;)

"normal"...my life never was "normal":D . If I could just get it back to the abnormal place it was;) . I've been taking apart and putting back together all kinds of things to get in the house. I have not had any time to work on the house or yard. I was so stressed the other day I told my wife I had to get at least 15 mins of tractor time. I jumped on the tractor and drove down to the river bottom, stopped and looked at the river a couple of minutes...the stress left...then I looked at the field I need to plow and get planted and the stress level rose again. I may have to visit "Tonys Farm" for some veggies if I don't get this field planted!!:D
Some things I need to get in the ground now, pumpkins can wait till late May early June.

David,

Glad to hear you are in your new home. It makes all the work and sacrfice worthwhile. Hope your arm heals completely and quickly! Sounds like there is farmin' to do and you don't need a bum arm :D

David,
I can sympathize with your anxiety. I'm about there too.
Not quite ready to move in of course, but all the detail work now for the new home. Biggest thing is getting my old place cleaned up and ready to sell. It's all gonna happen at the same time.
