PAGUY,

It has rained every Saturday except one since we moved in. I know we need the rain but I need it during the week and at night:D .

Things have been really busy. In the middle of the move a couple who had been wanting to see our old house came by and now wants to buy it! They have been approved for the loan and the appraiser for the bank is to meet me there tomorrow. So I have been busy cleaning up the old house and doing some minor touch up. I was not planning on doing anything to the old house until I had everything moved but I don't want to risk losing the sale. The house beside me has been on the market for a year with no takers so I am lucky to have had several people interested in mine.

Because of the weather I have not had the driveway surfaced, hopefully within the next two weeks it will be done. I have four loads of top soil to spread but need to wait until the drive is surfaced. Getting a load of washed stone for backfill on retaining walls but its being delivered when the driveway is surfaced...when the driveway is surfaced...when the driveway is surfaced:eek: :D

I have not had much time to read TBN but try to skim the threads and catch-up when possible.

Was able to go Saturday (after a morning rain)and get some of my tractor equipment. I told my wife I needed a vacation day so I went and got my bush hog, plow, and forks. Spent the rest of the day bush hogging the bottom and started to plow. I still need to go get the rest of my equipment and things out of the barn.

I do have some new pics and will be taking more and promise to post some as soon as things slow down just a little.

Thanks for asking!!

David

Well...we finished working on the old house and sold it. Now I can get back to working on the new house.

Started with the retaining walls in back.

1st pic is with waterproof applied, 2 coats.

2nd pic is with construction plastic added.

3rd pic is adding washed stone.

I finished with about a foot of dirt on top and spent therest of the day grading around the walls. I did not get pics of the grading but will post some in a couple of days.

Oh man, that sure looks nice.
With the incline you have you'll be happy you surfaced. I've given a lot of thought about doing mine as well, especially after those rains we had. It dries up quick and gets hard again, but while it's wet it's terrible.
Yours looks really good. How thick did you go David?

David!

Welcome back! :)

Excellent work! Place looks beautiful! I wish I had some skills... Paid my mason to do the retaining wall. Sigh...

Hope to see more soon!

Rob,

You are correct about the incline. With gravel it was hard sometimes to get the F250 Powerstroke up it without spinning unless I used 4 wheel drive.

Most pavers around here go 2" thick. The guy I used went 3-4" on the pad and on the incline. The flat area at the bottom of the hill is 2". He used a vibratory compactor on the incline. Overall he did a great job. He takes a lot of pride in his work and came back by two days later to check on the road and said he would come back once a month for the next few months to make sure everything was holding up and curing.

Thanks Michael,

Sometimes I wish I had more money than skill...or that I just wasn't so cheap:D .

I had to use the tractor to move one of the refrigerators to the basement. Sure made it easy to unload off the truck!

Hey David! The drive looks great! I wish I had the budget for the asphalt right now. My slope is not giving me any traction problems, so I'm in no rush other than aesthetics.

Love the refridgerator pic. It's always nice to see tractors used in creative ways.

I bet you enjoyed all the leaves coming in this spring. It was your first time to see the house surrounded with all the greenery. I bet its beautiful.
