I'm sorry Coby but I don't get the connection between a Cop who more than likely is killed by another human deliberately and the trashman who forgets to look before he steps out into traffic?? Or the Roofer who forgets how close he is to the edge?? Or the Truck driver who pushed the envelope and went to sleep?? :confused3:

Maybe, it's just me, but before I kill someone I think (or is it feel?) is a danger , I would want to see a gun or some real threat. Not just words. Did the officer see a gun or was he just startled? Obviously he didn't see a gun. Being startled, like the people in the store, is not a positive i.d. of a threat that justifies deadly force. Let me repeat that: Being startled does Not justify deadly force. Call it a mistake if you want, and yes as a society we do, especially to law enforcement because it's such a dangerous job and they see bad stuff. Well, I'm going to get slack for bursting bubbles, but the polls say law enforcement is not even in the Top 10 of deadliest jobs. You're garbage man is more of a hero, putting his life on the line more for you more. I know you've been programmed to think otherwise. The 10 Deadliest Jobs: 1. Logging workers 2. Fishers and related fishing workers 3. Aircraft pilot and flight engineers 4. Roofers 5. Structural iron and steel workers 6. Refuse and recyclable material collectors 7. Electrical power-line installers and repairers 8. Drivers/sales workers and truck drivers 9. Farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural managers 10. Construction laborers (-Forbes)

Holy Cow! For some reason you feel that the OP's thread is about the need to use deadly force. The thread is about the nut jobs out there packing a weapon that could have done harm to a kid performing a harmless "in his mind" prank. Another potential senseless shooting by an idiot. Not once, did anyone post they would have pulled a weapon or insinuate deadly force be used on the young man. Get a grip.

Well,,,, you got close,,,,, but missed it by a hair. And I figured that out without putting my foot up your ~~~.

The thread is about a "nut job" yelling freeze in a public place.

To use an old Infantry saying "Those who draw fire tend to pi** off those around them".

I've had a boot up my ~~~ ever since I started reading this thread....Yes, the kid was stupid but lucky a dummy with a weapon wasn't there. All runs into the same storyline with never a good ending. That's my take and I'm sticking with it. Excuse me while I go take this boot out....

Let me speak for the Roofers, I am proud to say I am one and was until I retired due to medical reason related to a fall off a roof. Provided a vital service for 25+ yrs. protecting all the stuff people collect and store in their home. We don't just fall off roofs, we fall through them as some people with mental disabilities never call for service and I have fallen through a few too. I can't tell you how many times I dug bullets out of them in fact it was my hobby to collect them and still have many. Many times while working in the inner city of Chicago and Miami I thought I was in a war zone, guns firing and bullets flying from exuberance of a holiday or a street fight.

The connection is that every job has inherent risks and no one needs idiots making our jobs any harder. Have you ever had to call the family to inform them there loved one had past? Then explain why, well imagine having to tell this idiots family why.

I was making a point about how we consider it "a mistake" and excuse it because we're often reminded, it's a "dangerous job". I was presenting facts that put that in context. IMO shooting an unarmed "kid" (OP's description) would not be a "mistake".

I get it: What most people are saying is "Hey kid, don't be an idiot, you're lucky you weren't murdered."

Well, you've come full circle. You can have your boot back by the way...

AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHUUUUUUUUUUUUGG! You guy's are killing me!!!!

IMO shooting an unarmed "kid" (OP's description) would not be a "mistake"?
Tell that to the Judge.
