Dang Kebo.
I'm not far over here in Ga. and had to go through the Officer inspection just like Diamond Pilot, stated earlier and it was even bought and sold here in Ga. :confused2:

I've made trailers and found it fairly easy to title here in CO. One I even drove for ~5 years before my then fresh wife refused to use it. Just needed enough receipts (easy to do) to look like I made a trailer.

But bring one from out of state and you need a VIN inspection. And they are in the midst of a 3 year increase in annual registration fees. And here I thought I was being a responsible citizen by having several sizes of trailers so I could leave the big pick up at home (saving fuel and not putting as much stress on the road). Silly me....

wow. AAA must be a licensee for the dmv in some states then?

Yep, they are. Whether buying, selling or registering, I take all my private party vehicle/trailer sales there. A lot easier than dealing with PennDOT.

Good grief... reading these posts; with the various "bureaucratic idiosyncrasies" in the different states makes me wonder how in the world anyone can take care of the daily business of living!!

It's little wonder that folk's would just throw their hands up and say "to #ell with it"!!

I'll do what I want until somebody catches up with me and says otherwise - easier to plead ignorance and ask for forgiveness than permission..

Or you could move to SC!! We don't have to register trailers, they are not required to have tags on them.

I knew there must be a reason why I like SC so much besides peaches (one SC county used to produce more peaches than the entire PEACH STATE of GA.) Oh, and of course an aunt and a couple cousins.

Any other folks out there able to report private trailers NOT requiring registration/tags?

IL has a simular thing for "farm" trailers. but it has to have a slot/pin hitch. (no ball hookup).

so my neighbors 16' tandam flat bed (car hauler) he converted to a slot/pin type and has no tags because it is a "farm" trailer.

(the DOT thinking is its the same as old hay wagons, grain bins, anhydrous trailers etc)

Carey..you know where I am ..not far from you here in NE GA and when I bought my trailer a few months ago the seller gave me the original registration along with a bill of sale and I took it to our county tag office and the lady said I did not have to have an inspections since I had the original manufactures statement of origin with me..I am glad the seller passed it on with the trailer..saved me a trip...

AKfish...I am 1000% with you on that...I too will keep on keeping on until they stop me...Just too much BS involved just to live your life. It almost makes you want to sell everything and like you say...throw your hands up...but I am just too stubborn to give up that easy...

Hey Brin be over your way again this week.
You got me I had all of that info with me also Title previous owner in Ga. Prev.Tag Ga. and Notarised Bill of sale. This was a few yrs. back so they may have changed it. Probly did since you know who had to crawl up under it to read the VIN.# and specs. Me, you couldn't see it and you know who wasn't going to get dirty. I could have made up anything and they never would have known any different. :p
