Tiller leaky tiller

gobbler,

Wow, that's a good deal! I'm not sure, but I think my dealer mentioned mid to high $1400's for a price on the GTO40. I didn't pay particular attention 'cause that unit was a bit small for me.

I've come to expect higher prices here in the good ol' northeast. So, within a hundred bucks or so sounds about right.

Thanks,

Rick,

I’ve noticed the price difference as well. I’ve got a cousin that lives in NH, around the Lake Mascoma area. We were up there last summer for a family reunion. He’s got a JD 4100 and had just bought a Woods RB60 rear blade. He paid around $400 for it. I’ve got the same blade and paid $275 !!!

Around here, it seems that you get your best deals with old, established dealers that carry large ag equipment as well as the smaller stuff. My Kubota dealer is also a large Case dealer and got into the smaller stuff (Kubota) to help weather the economic downturns. It has worked well for him. He sells a lot more Kubota and smaller equipment than he does the large Case tractors, but at 100K tractor isn’t for everybody.

These type of dealers far out number the “Lawn & garden” dealers around this area, and I’ve noticed that the L&G dealers tend to be higher.

I think I got burned on the tiller. Around $1700-1800 or thereabouts (ouch). The price was high, but after ordering the tractor, I just had them throw it in (my mistake). I should have priced other tillers out before I bought it.

DaveL,

I wouldn't say "burned". I'm not exactly sure where you're located in MD, but I've got a brother-in-law in Ellicott City, MD (a bit west of Baltimore) and I noticed that prices (cars, houses and such) are a bit steep in that part of the state. If you're near that region, you probably did all right.

Your price is reassuring to me so I think I'll go with the GTO60 at $1750.

The truth of the matter is that most of us here aren't going to the poor house over another $100 or so. If you're supporting a dealer that is friendly and offers good service, that could be worth a whole lot more than a couple hundred bucks in aggravation saved some time down the road.

Just curious, does anyone feel that the 60" width is too much tiller for a B2910?

Thanks to all for your comments.

~Rick
