A hook on the top rear of a rear blade center frame or box blade would seem to be a good place to tow a log from, if not too heavy. Hook it up tightly with blade down, lift the blade and log, and go. Or put a block under the end of the log before final hitching to get it higher. The blade shields the end of the log kind of like the logging winch attachments. The implement prevents a rear rollover if the log snags somehow.

Exactly what I am thinking.

Now, not only do I not yet have a box blade, but also no welding equipment. :(

So I may have to beg someone at work to hook me up with some welding on the side.

Good luck Deezler with your boxblade search. I you have patience used is the way to go. Most people buy and only use a couple of times then it sits till they sell it.

Been trolling my local craigslist's for months now, nothing but crusty old junk with no scarifiers. Or other people who think that a beat up old box blade has only depreciated $100 or so. I am also being kinda picky on size, I want a 5' (60") unit, only.

New King Kutters seem pretty affordable. And so shiny! Might have to go new.

Here is what I did to add weight not fancy but its 350# extra in a small area its a harmonic balancer off a big natural gas compressor engine.

Wow CarDoc, that is a lot of extra weight. Does it make the front end get light at all?

I think that looks right at home how you mounted it!

No not really it is about what my tiller is or a bit less maybe 750ish lbs roughly?

Thanks yeah it isn't going to be going anywhere its too heavy to man handle if it did move so I fixed that.

In all reality I only need that much weight for the rippers and once the dirt is tore up I have to watch how deep I cut with the blade. But its smooth I give it that not much chattering of the road surface going on back there.

You know Deezler hang in there if you can. It seems like you put in about as much time as I did. I ended up finding one on ebay that wasn't too far away. $600 for Gannon 66" roll over about an hour away. I think I did good compared to the new ones cost as I was looking towards TSC professional series with hinged gate. Anyway I am happy and it sure works good.

Ken thanks for the side scarifier idea, yet another one to add to my list.

Sure about the weight? Looks like one is 12"x18" (60 lbs) and one is 12"x24(80 lbs) more like 140 lbs. Visually that is what I would guess anyway for 1" plate.

They are 10 x 22, the steel shop wieighed them at just over 60 lbs each.

Well guess I was WRONG:laughing: At any rate I was at the steel shop Monday and since plate is selling for .56/lb that is a good way to weight your box imo. I like the fact that it is out of the way and centered over the blade too.

That picture makes it hard to tell, look at this one.
