Thanks to all you guys for posting the pics. Great ideas for projects to put on my list!

Here's a few pics of my BB grader mod inspired by TBN member ideas and comments.

This piece bolts on the bottom of the BB.
It is essentially two angled cutting edges connected to two side skids (skis).
The rear hooks over the rear BB blade and two bolts on the front hold it in place.
Top of the pic goes to the front of the BB

The leading tip of the side skid is turned up like a ski.
The skid is extended back beyond the rear blade about a foot so that the TNT can be used to tip the BB back on the skid and lift it, to dump material.

The front blade is serrated and all cutting edges were hardened with welding rod. The cutting edge of the actual BB is 3/4 higher than the grader blades to allow material to be metered out the back while the front blades cut.

It does a great job for any sort of cutting or leveling work such as landscaping or road maintenance.
It also adds about a 100 lbs of ballast to the back which is nice when doing FEL work. I don't remember the last time I took it off the BB. As for my gauge wheel, it hasn't been used since I made this thing.

Nice work, Tig. Made it into a land-plane!

I still do not have a box blade. ARG! All the good deals on craigslist seem to sell the same day they are listed. Have missed 3 of them now. Doesn't help me much that I'm not willing to drive more than an hour or so, but, it is what it is.

I need to unload some 20' sticks of 12" cement mortar lined ductile iron pipe and wanted some more ballast on the rear to take some load off the front axle. I welded a piece of 4x3x1/4 angle iron across the back of my box blade and bolted on two 80lb. pieces of cast steel. The extra 160lbs. as far back as I could get it ought to help.

Wanted a little extra weight so I added some railroad rail. I'm pleased with the results and the 2" receiver is handy for moving trailers around.

Very nice!

I forgot all about this thread.

I did end up finding a box blade, but I've been awful slow at getting it modified.

Then I had a moment of inspiration and hit craigslist for some used weight sets.

$80 later, and I have ~240 lbs added to my box blade. The difference in counter weight is huge!

The weights don't move around at all, and I can fairly easily get them rolled in and out of there by myself if need be.

Now I just need to bolt on some angle-iron and a trailer receiver so I can pull a trailer around, too.

Deezler, Those weights may also come in handy with your post hole digger. Our soil is rocky and in the summer when it is very hard and dry I use 180-lbs of weights and it really helps the auger get a bite and dig.

Excellent idea!

My weights are the crappy larger plastic case ones, filled with some unknown substance, and not solid iron. So I would have to figure out my mounting strategy. But that's a really great idea, I will be trying this.

Heres mine. Added about five hundred pounds. Works much better now!
