Lets see your Woodworking Skills

I'm not a real luthier, but I like to play around. Here are a couple instrument I've built from kits. The wood comes bundled with hardware and plans, and the builder is free to do all the shaping, sanding and joining. (I told you I'm not a real luthier, but it's not snap-together either. ;)) The first one is an Irish bouzouki. The second is a flat-backed lute I built for a friend. (I wasn't ready to try a real curved-back yet. Perhaps someday.) I've been pleased with the playability and sound from them. The next on my agenda is an Appalachian mountain dulcimer.

Regardless of your ability to put something together... I wish I could just play something - other than the stereo - envious and jealous!

Absolutely stunning! Can't wait to see the dulcimer.

It ain't much. Made from old pallet wood for the "outdoors look," but a miniature outhouse for fall/Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas outdoor decorations.

Daver,

I have been thinking about building one just about like that. I plan to put it next to my wife's raised herb beds fro her to keep some of her garden tools in.

Here is a more serious project from a couple of years ago. This plant stand was mainly to prove that I could use a miter box, but turned out okay. Also, you can't see them, but on the bottom are wheels that came off a mobile printer stand. The idea was that on a smooth floor it would roll easily and on a carpet floor it would help provide some stability.

Here's a couple more things I did for the Grandkids. I love the quarter sawn Oak.
