I decided it was time to replace my 15 year old GMC Sierra that I bought new in '03. It has 181k on it and was slowly increasing its oil usage. I have looked at everything new and used and finally chose a new 2018 F-150 XLT 4x4. This was a pretty serious move for me seeing as I had been driving GM trucks for the last 35 years. I have been driving some F-150s that we have at work at starting liking them.

The new truck has the 5.0L V8 with a 10 speed transmission. It is just an XLT but has several bells and whistles by my standards (simple). Things like heated seats, navigation, sat radio, Bluetooth will spoil a guy quick. More importantly it has a class IV tow hitch and has the 7000# GVWR package.

So far I am really liking this Ford. I had a sprayed in bed liner installed today and put some splash guards on it. Somebody said that I would miss my old truck but this one is making it hard to do that.

Welcome to the "Blue oval"
Buy the truck/vehicle you think will serve you the best, not the label. Congrats on your new truck!

Always been a Ford guy. But the difference between my last two trucks (2014 and 2016 F250) and my new 2017 F250 were big to me. The ride and cab quietness are a huge improvement.
Like kf4uda, the XLT option suits me just fine. But like him, my truck also came with heated seats, navigation and satellite radio. Just turned 55 so I guess these little creature comforts appeal to me a little more as the years go on. Especially the heated seats. The back really appreciates that on a cold snowy morning.

I upgraded from an '08 F250 to a '17 F350 in March, and I agree, what a difference these 2017 trucks are. WOW! I love mine!

Nice looking truck. We bought a 2017 about 3 months ago, mine is very similar but it is the Supercab, which has the smaller back seat. Mine is also an XLT but it seems loaded to me.

Very nice looking rig. I hope it serves you well.

Thats a nice looking truck. A guy in my hunting club has one with the 5.0 V8. He really likes it a lot.

Congrats, the 5.0L coyote V8 with the 10 speed transmission must be a great combo, and what I would choose as well. Get'em before Ford moves to all turbo motors...

Thanks guys. Me and a buddy went to lunch in it today and went out on a back road and tried out sport mode :D Let me repeat that :D Truck thinks its a Mustang when you change to sport mode.....and I like it! I probably should never do it again as it is very addictive.

Thought I would give a 5,000 mile update. No problems whatsoever with the truck. I just had the tires rotated. The tire shop's pressure sensor tool wouldn't train the TPMS sensors to their new location. Probably needs a firmware update. I got out the owner's manual and we did it the hard way. Turn the key on, turn the hazard lights on and off 3 times. Horn will blow. TPMS system is now in learn mode. Start with left front. Let air out until horn blows. Work clockwise around truck until complete. Air tires to correct pressure. Worked like a charm.

This Ford sure has won me over so far. It is very well engineered. I have towed a 16ft heavy trailer with only about 1500lbs on it so I have not challenged it at all. I am getting around 18mpg mostly rual driving. Only took one trip in it and saw around 21.

Interesting on the tire rotation. I just rotated the tires on my 2017 F150 at 8000 miles and no TPMS issues. They just continued to work.

We service Ford Explorer police cruisers at work. The TPMS works no matter how you rotate the tires, no relearning required.

The only reason for resetting the TPMS when rotating the tires is so the computer can tell the operator which tire is low. If your system just has a warning light that comes on then it's not needed.

Ford finally woke up and started using the system that tells you which tire is low. Before this 2017 F250 I always had the simple warning light. You had to go around and manually determine which tire was the culprit. Never cared for that.

You are correct. My truck has a display that shows the pressure in each tire.

My F150 also has about 5000 miles on it. I'm also averaging about the same MPG on the computer, its says 17.9 right now. My experience is that number is roughly 0.5 mpg too high. I have only towed with mine once and then it was probably 3000 lbs or less but it tows well.
