Lifting backhoe attachment using front loader

The safest way is to make a pallet and then put it on the tie it down well. Then you can lift it with forks. Do you have the lift capacity for this?

Moot point if he doesn't have forks.

Even with forks, hard to justify the time and energy for one move. A regular skid would not be big enough. So you get or make a longer one. Now, you have a lot more weight farther away.

Don't use the FEL; Use his tractor's 3ph to back it onto the trailer, set it down, remove it from the 3ph and strap it down. Use your tractor back home to reattach to 3ph. BTDT...

I've moved my 3pt several times. Works better with forks and 2 or 3 slings to get it balanced. I put on one each of the stabilizers and one on the boom. Then slow and easy.

As far as tying the backhoe to the trailer I was thinking about these straps from Lowe’s - SmartStraps 2-in x 20-ft Tow Strap Tie Down (5666-lbs Work Capacity). What do you think?
Use chain instead of straps.

Straps will work fine if you get a straight shot from anchor to anchor. But you run into chafing issues if the go over any metal.

My first test tow of my L3200 I used some heavy (4"?) straps over the front bumper. Square stock, slightly rounded corners, or at least not sharp in the slightest. Cut half way through the straps up front in a mile or 2 of rough road. I promptly switched to chain. I still have the straps & great anti-chafing guards, but they just aren't worth the effort & risk vs. chain.

It sounds like you are rightly concerned about moving that impliment properly. Trying to get straps on so they cant come free & cant hit a corner much less sharp edge will be WAY more work. It could be done, but chain will be safer & easier.

I bought a Woods BH7500 w/ subframe a few years ago. I lifted it with 2 chains to hooks on my bucket and used a 3rd chain from bucket around the hoe arm to prevent the teeter totter effect. I took my tractor to where the BH was, drove over the subframe so it was under the tractor and used two chains to lift off the ground. I then drove it onto my tilt bed trailer slowly with a buddy on each side guiding it so it wouldn't swing. I only had a 4 mile trip to bring it home. I should have taken pics but didn't think about it at the time.

Does the current owner have a front loader to get it on your trailer?

I'd put a strap/chain around each outrigger (in upright position) and one strap under the boom stick where it meets the dipper and shackle all three in the middle somewhere where you think the balance point might be. Go in from the side of the trailer attach shackle to bucket and lift then have someone drive the trailer out from under it. This backhoe probably weighs in the 1000 pound range????

Or the tractor it came off of. Back on the trailer and disconnect.

Lol, I was thinking the same thing, wouldn't take that many to carry the darn thing off the trailer.
