bgoodman, the Passport rivals some of the bigger Miller MIGS I have been using in school. I am very satisfied with it. It has (in the blue case) CO2 gas or I can use flux-wire and use 115v or 230v, and it's very transportable. It has that crisps bacon frying sound with pretty beads. I had to turn the power down on 3/8" because I was undercutting the metal on 230v. I think it is all the MIG machine I will ever need. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
MF1455, the generator does start to work a bit on 230v but the bead stays hot and crisp. I was a bit leery about the generator because it was a one day old reduced to $500 return to Lowe's, B&S motor generator, but so far I have no complaints.

I have run the Passport from 110v house current and generator 110v and it welds really good. I have not welded a lot with it because I just got it, but it has surprised me with the really nice practice welds. I just started welding this year in class and I am use to the larger Miller MIGS.
I am using the small bottle of CO2.
You can buy the paintball 12oz CO2 bottles anywhere they sell paintguns, Wallmart, Academy etc... Academy Sporting Goods fills the bottle for $2.50. I am still on my first bottle so you can tell I have use the machine less than 20 minutes.
I have ordered another roller for the flux core wire. When I use flux core I will reverse the polarity by changing the ground.
There seems to be a lot of interest in this new versatile machine and I hope to weld more with it very soon to give a good comprehensive report. Bob Skurka is also getting one this week and he might start using his more and sooner than me. Keep an eye on his post below in related topics.
