Loader slow going up

I've got an 07 TL100A that is slow in raising the loader, but all other functions work fine. It's up at my in-laws and I had my brother in law swap two of the hoses and the problem isn't in the pump or cylinders as the slow action followed the hose. I talked to the dealers service guy and he said there are cables running to the acuating valves that can be adjusted.

As the tractor is 100 miles away I'm planning to go up this weekend and figure out what's wrong. Just curious if anyone is familiar with adjusting the hydraulics like the dealer described?? Or has had a similar problem??

If the 'circuit' is slow and you can swap in another cyl and it becomes slow, make sure there is not a restriction orifice in line.. IE.. one that may have been for a grapple.. etc. Other possibilities are that the spool is not opening completely, if this is indeed a fly-by-wire setup. Also.. some hoses can colapse internally and cause blockages.. etc.

Since you said the slow action followed the hose, you might want to just go ahead and get a new hose made up.

Dan, I think if the dealer's service guy told you that there are cables to adjust, then that adjustment is probably all that is needed. By swapping the hoses, you just proved that the problem is before the point that the hoses were swapped, probably the joystick valve. Your can surely see how to do the adjustment when you get the cables exposed. I'm not familiar with the 52LC loader, but is that what you have?

I looked on the NH parts site under the TL100A and found the attached drawing of the joystick and cable control. It is reference number 1.82.7/09 on the parts list. I don't know if yours is exact, but it will be something close probably. The cable adjustments are clear in the illustration.

Do you know how to look up parts on the New Holland website?

Soundguy-I hope it is just a case of something not opening up enough. It seems to have plenty of lift power.

daTeacha-I probably said it wrong as the problem stayed with the same outlet to the hoses and by changing hoses we verified everything downstream was ok.

Jim - Thanks for the heads up on finding the part, I didn't know it was available on the NH site. In the diagram it appears to have two cables and I'm assuming one is lift and one is tilt on the 52lc, which is the loader I have. But with only one cable for lift and drop, I wonder if you can adjust only one side of the movement. The drop seems to work fine, it's just the lift that is slow. I'll just have to get up to the tractor and see what adjustment is available.

A maladjusted cable will almost always affect spool travel in one direction without affecting the other. The lever movement is simply decreased, usually by an amount undetected by the operator.

It was an easy fix. The Joy stick has two cables as the diagram shows. The cable housing ends going into a compression fitting (#8 in the diagram) which is attached to the valve. I just loosened up the compression fitting (one allen nut) and centered the action, and then retightened the fitting. Loader works perfectly. The cable housing which ends in a steel cylinder which fits into the housing had slipped a bit.

It's basically the same as adjusting the brake cable on a bike. Except on a bike, the cable has a threaded metal end that screws in or out, and the lines on the tractor are adjusted in the compression fitting.

Hope this helps someone, as it is very simple, but also potentially prone to slipping and getting the controls out of center.
